"I have called the 1 800 the helpline number I'm getting the runaround you can't call the DHS office as well and talk to nobody or leave a message because you get an automated machine constantly this is ridiculous I sat in the office for 2 hours for them to tell me nothing and I'm still having problems"
"Worst DHS office ever. They are extremely rude and disrespectful. The security guard yelled at me bc I had to go to the bathroom and when I was done I went back to my place in line (I had waited over an hour) He told me it was "against the rules" and that I should go to the end of the line. So ,I did. I then asked for those rules in writing and he told me "shut your mouth or I'll kick you out". The receptionist glares at everyone and acts like it's such a burden doing her job. I felt so upset and depressed after leaving,(I have mental health issues) ,I dread going back to that place. What a horrible experience!"
"I just want to say that Thomas who is handling my case right now is just so wonderful, so wonderful that I am in tears. The phone interview was sounding like I wasn't going to qualify for SNAP benefits anymore but I needed to send some more documents over. As soon as we ended the call, I got the documents I needed and emailed them. Literally, right after I pressed send I received a phone call from the office and it was Thomas, asking me a couple questions to see if we can work the system because he found a loophole. He found a loophole AFTER we had already spoke and the case was supposed to be on hold for someone else to look at. I told him that I just sent the documents over that he asked for. He said he would go see if they can be printed right now so that he can finalize the case. Let me tell you, Thomas you just lifted a weight off my shoulders."
"It truly depends on who is working, when you go & how many people are there. Expect to not get through on the phone. Just go. I went up to change address & update info since I was married. I was in & out in 5 minutes. The lady working at the front was extremely patient, kind & helpful. Get there bright & early! & PLAN AHEAD! Bring correct paperwork & you will get done what needs done... No issues."
