Amila Tomas, NP

"Had an EXTREMELY unpleasant experience with this woman (to say at the very least). I can't even go as far as giving her the credit to call her a 'NURSE PRACTITIONER'. Because whoever gave this woman her license to practice medicine, COULDN'T of even been qualified to do so, otherwise, they would've seen how unprofessional & UNQUALIFIED Amila Tomas was/is & therefore would of made sure she wasn't given her license to practice medicine. People like her disgust me, and shouldn't be ASHAMED of themselves!!! Not only did she MISDIAGNOSE me more than once, (which could've resulted in very serious/long term medical & health complications, and actually ALMOST DID!!!) But, she also falsified my medical records & refused to even attempt to treat me but rather came at the situation with more of a 'manage & ignore' attitude, than a 'get to the root of the problem, & cure attitude'. I was told, that her solution to my SERIOUS health issue would be to simply keep me on blood thinners for the REST of my life & never even attempted to get to the BOTTOM of the issue & figure out why this issue occured at all. & Whenever I came to her with my concerns about this & questioned her decision she told me I'd always be more than open to be able to receive a second opinion from a different doctor. Therefore, I requested for her to give me a referral to see another doctor in which she complied but upon granting me this referral that should've been very simple and to the point in describing the situation (ex: 53yr old male with history of DVT/PE after receiving knee surgery seeking second opinion) instead, she was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL about the referral that she had, might I add, OFFERED to me, & upon describing me as the patient, she included a long list of UN-TRUE, & what wasn't UN-TRUE was all information that she HAD YET to share with me and didn't even plan to do so. On this referral, I found out I was PREDIABETIC & was never informed of this during any of my visits with her nor over the phone afterwards/prior to me seeing her. I was never given a diet plan, or told that I should be avoiding certain foods. Like I said, had never even been informed of this prior to me finding out on the referral. I felt as if my best interest was the complete OPPOSITE OF what she had in mind for me. Her, & her nurse gave me nothing but an unpleasant experience & permanently damaged my trust for those in the medical field. She also violated my comforqt level with her, as a patient."

"If Google allowed it, I wouldn't even give her the credit for ONE STAR, she'd have ZERO. My fiance has been seeing Amila Tomas, and going to appointments at Oak Street Health for about a year or more now. We've personally had a HORRIBLE experience with this woman, and this place. Due to the small location they have at Gravois, they cannot perform any tests needed done other than an EKG and the nurse who preforms the EKG doesn't even know how to properly hook the machine up correctly to get a correct reading. It's the nurse for Amila Tomas, and she's completely unprofessional, Everytime we come in for a visit she's more concerned about telling us about her boyfriend, holidays, and her life story than making sure that she's properly assessing the patient and getting it done, to be able to see Amila Tomas. Everytime we call to SPEAK to HIS primary care physician Amila Tomas, we ALWAYS get a callback from her nurse that can never even answer any of our questions or concerns. She's always the middle man, it's constantly HE SAID/ SHE SAID - just passing the message back and fourth and never doing so correctly. By far the worst medical advice/primary care physician that we've ever both encountered."
