"During my recent follow-up consultation of an MRI, I was disappointed with the experience I had with Dr. Ryan Dunlay. I initially came in to discuss pain localized on the outside of my lower leg, yet much of the conversation was focused on my knee, which I have repeatedly clarified was not the source of my pain. While I appreciate the information provided regarding knee health and arthritis, I felt that my concerns about the specific area of discomfort were not fully acknowledged. Despite explaining that my knee was not the issue, the recommendations I received were for treatments targeting knee pain, such as cortisone shots and physical therapy. This left me feeling that my primary concerns were overlooked. Additionally, the response to my inquiry about the typical onset of arthritis in women felt dismissive. Comparing my condition to his own experience seemed to minimize my concerns rather than address them. Overall, I left the appointment without gaining any new insights beyond what had already been discussed with the physician’s assistant during my initial visit at ORA. I would have appreciated a more empathetic and patient-centered approach, focusing on the specific issues I presented rather than generalizing the pain to a knee problem that was not actually there. I hope this feedback is helpful in improving patient care and communication."
"Love Dr. Dunlay. He repaired my shoulder last Oct. Answers all your questions. Never seems to rush. Say him yesterday for my knee. Spent time with me even having nice conversation about our fishing trip. He's the guy I recommend."
"My 2 year old son fractured his tibia last night. My poor little guy just got out of a cast not even 24 hours before this Ryan Dunlay saying he was totally fine with a bad limp didn’t even feel his leg or examine him. We believe it was already fractured when he originally injured it and the doctor missed it. You might be wondering how this happened so quickly after getting out of a cast? Let me tell you. We saw Dr. Ryan Dunlay the first two times he was in a cast for follow up. The first time they took his cast off he saw he wasn’t putting any weight on his foot and was in pain and told us he was just going to cast it again to make sure everything was healed. Mind you my son is 2 and cannot talk yet or tell you what hurts. I had to ask to have another x ray to make sure they didn’t see anything on it for a fracture or a break, which they ended up doing and he said he did not see anything. Dr. Dunlay told us multiple times it would all be healed if there was something wrong next week. They took the cast off on Monday and re xrayed again to make sure there was not anything wrong. He came in and saw he was putting weight on it and he walking with a limp and said he was good to go. Didn’t even address the x ray. When he fell last night and wouldn’t stop crying for over a half hour we knew something was wrong. We went into the urgent care in Bettendorf and got in fairly quickly. We had a pa Stephanie, who was amazing. She examined our son and felt around on his leg, ankle, and foot and saw he was swollen from the knee down so she took an xray from the knee down. Mind you this was the first time someone actually examined him and touched his leg. She came back in a little while later to let us know he fracture his tibia. We asked if this happened before he got the cast off and Dunlay missed it and to please look at the previous x rays. The last one that was taken Monday that Dunlay ordered was of the wrong part of his leg it was of his thigh and knee. Obviously he did not look at his chart and just ordered the xray. I do not recommend Ryan Dunlay and highly encourage people to steer clear. He does not care about his patients and just cares about a pay check. If I could give him 0 stars I would."
"Dr Dunlay was “spot on” with his diagnosis and treatment of my knee and hip problems. Our discussions were focused and friendly. He presented a couple of alternatives but we settled on a steroid injection for my knee and PT for my hip. Hope to be back to running soon."
"Dr. Dunlay was very thorough with his examination of my knee. He took time to explain the healing process and where I was related to my post op healing. He answered the questions I had without rushing. Overall, a very positive experience."
