About the Business
Lee County Adult Probation
Welcome to Lee County Adult Probation, located at 823 Avenue G, Fort Madison, Iowa. Our mission is to create safer communities through effective supervision and rehabilitation of offenders. We are part of the Eighth District, which has implemented several specialized programs aimed at reducing recidivism and fostering positive change.
High Risk Unit (HRU):
Our High Risk Unit is dedicated to monitoring and supervising sex offenders, methamphetamine offenders, and other high-risk individuals. Operating primarily during evening and late-night hours, our uniformed and armed HRU officers provide surveillance, electronic monitoring, drug and alcohol testing, and warrant service across the 14-county District. The HRU collaborates closely with all local law enforcement agencies to ensure comprehensive supervision.
Drug Court Programs:
We offer two drug court programs in Fort Madison and Ottumwa. These multi-phase programs provide intensive treatment and supervision for non-violent substance abuse offenders. Our treatment teams include probation officers, substance abuse counselors, attorneys, and judges, ensuring a holistic approach to rehabilitation. Thanks to federal funding, we have expanded our services to include mental health support for dual-diagnosis offenders.
Iowa Domestic Abuse Program:
Our program focuses on promoting accountability and encouraging offenders to abandon abusive behaviors. Through a 24-week curriculum, offenders learn non-violent behaviors that foster respect, trust, and responsible parenting. While most participants are court-ordered, voluntary enrollment is also available.
Mental Supervision Program:
Launched in 2011, this program addresses the needs of mentally ill offenders through an 18-24 month diversion program. Combining supervision, treatment, and judicial oversight, our approach helps offenders stabilize and build a productive, crime-free future.
Sex Offender Program:
Designed for offenders with sexual offense histories, this program offers therapeutic and educational treatment to help manage deviant behaviors. Our cognitive-behavioral treatment includes victim awareness, cognitive restructuring, and relapse prevention, among other components.
Low-Risk Program:
Offenders sentenced to our Low-Risk Program must comply with court-ordered requirements and supervision fees. Early discharge requests may be submitted upon completion of all conditions.
At Lee County Adult Probation, we are committed to reducing recidivism and enhancing public safety. Through collaboration and innovative programs, we strive to support offenders in leading productive lives while protecting our communities.
