"Volunteers coordinate this great exhibition. Learned about the precision tooling of the pens and the ornamentation. The factory that once employed a thousand workers also shifted production to support World War II efforts. Great thanks to the volunteer who facilitated an opening apart from the regular schedule. Much appreciation :)"
"Dan is a terrific curator and fount of information on the history of Schaefer and the town."
"Dan was amazing and very knowledgeable and such a kind spirited man who shows his affinity towards his wares."
"I stayed in Fort Madison, Iowa this week on a road trip from Idaho to Nauvoo, Illinois, and stopped by the Sheaffer Pen Museum after reading about it online. I was amazed. The quality of the museum, the rich history presented and the exhibits are all exceptional. Dan, the volunteer at the museum, was extremely helpful and has an encyclopedic knowledge. But for the direct connection of Sheaffer pens to Fort Madison, one would expect a museum of this caliber to be in a major city. For anyone who has ever picked up a pen, this is a place that is absolutely worth seeing. I will be encouraging friends and family to come to Fort Madison to check out this museum. The days and hours of operation are limited, so a visit needs to be planned accordingly."
"This was a great unexpected stop! We have been cruising around the area and it is within walking distance of the Kingsley Inn. The hours are a little wonky, but well worth the wait if you can make it in. The guy working the desk was very knowledgeable and gave us a nice recap about the history of the Sheaffer Company. The interactive video and demonstration of the process of how they made pens was really fascinated to watch."
