"My husband and I recently moved from Washington state to Pittsfield Massachusetts. After viewing homes in the area, we signed a contract on the purchase of a home on 3/31/23. Robin Moore was the seller’s realtor which was definitely to our detriment. Closing was to be 4 /26 per the contract. The inspection uncovered some issues but we agreed to proceed with the purchase. Our realtors were awesome and kept us in the loop at all times and all documents on our side were signed very quickly unlike the seller’s side. During a conversation with Ms. Moore she informed us that the seller’s divorce was a done deal and happened a long time ago. She also said she included the ex husband’s name on the documents which was odd since she said he didn’t have anything to do with the sell of the house. Fast forward a few weeks, Ms. Moore told our realtor that the seller needed another week beyond closing date. Since we were staying in a hotel, we said no to an extension. Closing date we had a walk through of the property at 12 pm only to find out that the ex husband (who was not “involved “) did not sign off on the deed. Ms. Moore’s comment to me (when I mentioned to her things are not great) was “things could be worse”. And we found out that was true.We were scheduled to meet with our lawyer an hour later for the closing. Our plan was to wait until the next day to see if the ex husband would sign. He did but the seller changed her mind and would not sign off. Our moving truck from Washington was en route. We now had to pay $5500 to place our belongings in storage in Pittsfield while we search for a home again. The odd part of this whole nightmare is, the listing for the home still says pending. on 5/1. Did someone else make a higher offer?
