Welcome to Thayer Public Library, your community hub for knowledge and discovery, located at 798 Washington Street, Braintree, Massachusetts, 02184. As a cornerstone of the community, we offer a wide range of resources, programs, and services designed to meet the needs of our diverse patrons.

Our regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Please note that we are closed on Sundays.

We observe several holidays throughout the year and adjust our hours accordingly to allow our staff and patrons to celebrate important occasions. During Independence Day, we close early at 5 pm on July 3 and remain closed on July 4. For Thanksgiving, we are open from 9 am to 1 pm on November 22 and closed from November 23 through November 26. We resume regular hours on November 27.

In observance of Veterans' Day, the library is closed on November 10 and 11. For Christmas, we are closed from December 22 through December 25, and for New Year's, from December 29 through January 1. During these weeks, we maintain regular hours from Tuesday to Thursday.

We also close on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Patriots' Day, Columbus Day, and Labor Day. Please mark your calendars for September 18, 2024, when the library will be closed for staff development and training.

For our younger visitors, the Children's Department remains a vibrant part of our library, although it may occasionally be unstaffed during specific times due to staffing levels. During these times, our Circulation Department staff on the Main Level will be happy to assist.
