"I had surgery on Monday morning and I can't say enough about how my surgeon the nurses and all who were there that day with me. I highly recommend Mass general Brigham hospital to my family and friends."
"This healthcare system is poorly managed from a patient support perspective. I had a billing problem. They charged me a copay for an annual physical that is covered by my insurance. I called 4 times and sat on hold for an hour each time. No one ever picked up. They do not even offer you an option to leave a message. I finally navigated through the portal to write them an email. A woman responded by telling me they would investigate and it would take 30-45 days to find an answer. In the meantime, she said they would freeze my account until they had an answer so I would not be asked for payment. Well, that came to a crashing end this week when they started emailing me daily to pay that bill without a notice of resolution. There is no one locally I can speak with. I tried. Everything goes through their corporate office and I am sure they have automated everything and run with the bare minimum of people. I followed my doctor, Andrew Moscovitz, to Mass General Cooley Dickenson in Northampton when he moved there several years ago because it was more convenient for him. He is a great doctor, and at the same time, I am very apprehensive of this hospital system should I get sick. The older I get, the more of a concern this becomes. At least when I call Baystate, they have a live switchboard operator who can at least get me into a voicemail to leave a message."
"This place is nothing but a money grab. Cost me over a $1000 after my insurance 1 xray and 10 minute consult for them to tell me nothing. I will never, ever ever ever ever. Step foot in this place again if I'm dying, leave me on the street. Don't take me in here. If I could give zero stars I would"
"Overcharges for services without informing patient. Went in for a simple appt to see if I was able to get my nose cauterized. Doc says he needs to give me a nasal endoscopy (stick a camera up my nose). Very quick, happened right on the spot. *Was never informed this would alter my bill*. Now, because of this, the visit is considered to have had "procedure services", making the total come out to close to $1000. They sent 2 nearly identical bills, one from the hospital, and one from the physician. Customer service has been entirely unuseful in disputing this. Here is my bill: Physician Services Office Visit. New Patient. - $613.00 Nasal Endoscopy - $285.00 Hospital Services Clinic Visit, Hospital. New Patient - $148.00 Endo Nasal Diagnostic - $357.00 Total - $1,403 This is the total for a ~40 minute appt, detailing whether I was even ABLE TO get my nose cauterized. It was supposed to be a simple precursory appt, just a little copay. THIS IS ABSURD. What can be purchased for $1400: * High end smartphone * Flatscreen TV * New computer * A month's rent in Boston * A used car * Vacation to Cancun What I bought for $1400: * A useless appt that didn't even result in a cauterization * MONTHS of dealing with Brigham customer service going back and forth between disputes * Threats to send me to collections * Pain. so much pain See my frustration here? Would have never booked an appointment had I been informed of the true cost."
