"BUYER BEWARE. Honestly if I could go back in time and slap myself for trusting this place I would. The salesman doesn’t know if there are issues with these cars or not. This place is a gamble and they don’t allow the car to be taken off the lot for a test drive or to go take it to mechanic (which should have been a clear sign to look elsewhere!). While the salesman was sort of friendly, the only thing they are transparent about is that the cars you buy from this place are an “as is” purchase. Meaning you could be like me and inherit what you thought was a good car, only to have it break down a few weeks later to find a plethora of issues that a mechanic tells you its not worth repairing because of the cost to fix (pics below). Don’t be fooled by the warranty either, it doesn’t cover anything. Would not recommend unless you like taking risks, at which case I would reccomend a casino cause at least then you’d have a slim chance of making your money back!"
"I gave three stars, because that is about accurate. I will be honest with everyone reading this, I neither "like" nor "dislike" this place. I'm in between. I bought a vehicle here, a week ago, and I will say, I brought it to my mechanic, and it isn't in "HORRIBLE" condition, but it certainly isn't in great condition either. It is going to take a few thousand dollars to get it right. But nonetheless, my mechanic said to me, the vehicle is absolutely worth it. It threw a check engine light a few days after buying and driving it (kinda soon) but I saw it eventually coming. I brought it to my mechanic, and he told me the code is for a misfire. That's not terrible and it isn't an expensive fix, either. It needed a couple of other things as well, all minor. The vehicle is free from leaks, it starts, runs and is drivable. This even in the shape it was in before needing work. I mean, it is a wholesale dealership, I do know that, and I am aware of that. I just wish they got cars that were in a little bit better shape, looking at their reviews from other people, I kinda went "ehhhhhhhhh" at first when I went to buy this one. But it really wasn't all that bad. They did tell me that it will need work and were honest there. They never pressured me into buying it. They never hounded me when I went to look. They were fairly nice during the buying process. I definitely think they should get a shop and look these things over. It would be better for them. These are unsafe, auction bought cars. They all need something. You take a chance with cars like these, so you have to know what you're walking into. I will keep what I bought until it dies. I can absolutely make my money back on selling it private sale. If I sell it before I run it into the ground. It is just going to be a winter beater for me. I will eventually move on from it and get something better. Would I recommend these guys? I would, only with the understanding that you're going to have to spend some money on repairs. You won't get anything here that is in perfect, "plug and play" condition. Thanks for an ok vehicle, J's. EDIT: On January 19, 2024, my vehicle took a NH state inspection sticker. I absolutely love my vehicle too. It is a comfortable and sweet ride. The AWD is probably my favorite part of the whole vehicle. Thank you again! I am not sure I would do the wholesale car buying again, but if this was my first and last time doing it, I would say I made out alright, after all! Here are some photos of the vehicle I bought at Jay's and the inspection sticker, that was put on Friday afternoon. It needed just a few things for inspection but was fairly inexpensive to fix."
"My friend went and bought a Cadillac srx- no test driving on roads - no state inspections - well my friend is older gentleman and couldn’t get to look under car for rust After driving car home - drivers side rear control arm is completely rotted out ! And the transmission won’t shift when it should - It bucks in 4 th gear ! Guy tells you it’s from the auction and don’t fix anything - So buyers beware - it’s my friends fault the owner didn’t twist is arm to buy it - So bring a mechanic if you don’t know anything about cars"
"As a 73 year old retired mechanic and used car salesman I knew what I was looking for. Found a Jeep Liberty at half the price of other lots. J's owner is a great person to do business with. No B.S. or high pressure. Nobody will hover you while you're there. Please bring a good mechanic with you cause wholesale as is means exactly that for anyone who buys a car in the live free or die state Great deals on good cars. I highly recommend J's Auto."
"I am editing my review from 3 years ago. I have had my 2010 Kia Forte SX sedan that I purchased from J’s in Derry since my initial visit a few summers ago. Saw the car online and knew I had to have it, as a corsa blue manual trans in the SX package is hard to find now in clean shape. Price as advertised was the price we paid, no more no less. Car was in nice condish. They were pretty straightforward with me about the car, told me they knew little to nothing about it and that they wouldn’t allow as-is vehicles to be test driven off the lot. I drove the car around their parking lot for a few minutes, no one came out to bother me. It was a relaxed experience and a quick, easy, painless sale. I had to leave the car there after buying it for a week as I live far away and had to arrange pickup time.Very understanding guys and they didn’t hassle me about that either.I have done 2 engine swaps in the time I’ve had the car, which is a whole ‘nother story in itself but I do not blame the guys at J’s, more so an issue with Kia’s engines in general…This dealership did just right by me, and overall I’ve been highly satisfied. Attached are a couple pics of the car as it is now. Besides the engines, I’ve just done trouble-free maintenance, many mods, and have put on around 12k miles since purchase (it’s a summer car). It looks much different now than when I bought it. I want to emphasize that you should NOT buy a car from J’s if as-is deals scare you, yet If you’re looking for a good deal and do your own work, they may just be one of the better choices. They are used cars and something IS going to go wrong. Thanks again J’s."
