"On Sunday around 11:15pm I checked myself into Coast Plaza hospital in Norwalk CA. I have chronic migraines and this one had been happening for over three days. I could no longer function because of how excruciating the pain had become. I waited over an hour to finally have a nurse take my vitals. Then I waited a little longer for the doctor to finally show up. I hadn’t been taken inside the ER this was all happening outside of the sliding doors they have. Outside in the open where other patients where. The doctor an older caucasian male, Micheal Stone approached me with a very nonchalant about my situation. He stated he had seen my records and I had been at this hospital for migraines before. Because it was a chronic condition Dr.Stone said he would not give me any IV medication because I needed to see a neurologist. With tears in my eyes I explained to the Dr how excruciating my pain was and that I had a neurologist appointment but it wasn’t until April. He shrugged his shoulders and said he could offer me a norco or a tramadol injection or an advil. At this point I was stunned, there was absolutely no remorse in his tone or in his facial expression. I told him I had all of those medications at home and non of them were working hence why I was at the hospital. He continuously said he would not give me any IV medicine. As I shed tears I explained to him how this pain was no longer bearable and I needed his help. I told him I had two young children at home and I could no longer function. He carelessly once again shrugged his shoulders as if what I was telling him was not his problem. I sat there in tears holding my head and just felt absolutely helpless. He showed no remorse, he was not an ounce empathetic about my situation. He proposed to give me advil… when I’ve had a migraine for over 3 days. I didn’t ask him to cure me because I know there’s no cure for a migraine but I thought an ER was suppose to help ease the pain. Dr. Stone didn’t even bother doing any type of neurological test with his hands, he didn’t bother checking my heart palpitations. Dr. Stone looked bothered that I was at the ER at 1am seeking help for something I had absolutely no control over. Micheal Stone made me feel as if I was seeking drugs or as if I was an addict. He made me feel as if this was a child throwing a tantrum. I was humiliated, I was neglected any sort of help. I was helpless and In so much pain I walked out of the ER with tears in my eyes and this excruciating pain. I had to drive a few miles to the nearest ER to ask someone else for help. I was finally given the help I so desperately asked Micheal Stone at Norwalk Coast Hospital for. I was given the Iv treatment he repeatedly refused to give me. I was monitored for over an hour at this other hospital and I was given fluids due to the dehydration I had experienced all due to this migraine. I tried contacting Norwalk Coast Plaza hospital to speak with a director or even a manager and unfortunately no one has returned my calls. This is why I’ve decided to file this complaint. Dr. Stone needs to be accountable for his negligence, this may have been a chronic condition but I begged him for his help. I was a patient is desperate need of some relief and he refused to give it. No one else deserves to experience this treatment from someone who expect to help and care for us. No one deserves to experience the humiliation I experienced with Dr. Micheal Stone."
