"I would give 0 stars honestly. I was going to transfer here originally because both my mother and grandma WENT to him. Key word here WENT. Receptionists are beyond unprofessional, especially Crystal. There was numerous incidents where Crystal would schedule my grandmother, and when we arrive on our scheduled appointment, she would ALWAYS tell her that my grandmother was not scheduled and this last time she literally called my grandmother a liar. Of course, I called Dr. Schmit to complain about Crystal and how she treated one of his long term patients, and he asked what exactly what happened and as I told him what happened he would shut me up because he didn't want to hear it. What kind of Doctor doesn't want to know how their receptionists are treating their patients when Crystal has done this to my grandmother and other patients OFTEN. When I finally got my grandma to get an appointment to see the doctor THROUGH the doctor himself NOT THE RECEPTIONISTS, the moment he saw her he tried to go over the whole ordeal what happened the day before and proceeded to call her a 'troublemaker.' My mother recently went in with knee pain, and Dr asked her how it happened, but as she was TRYING to tell him how it happened, he would completely ignore her and tell her that "that's not how that happened." He had her go get x-rays and didn't get an appointment to go over the results until two weeks later, because my mother isn't able to take his call appointments as they are after 6pm and she works nights so is asleep during the late afternoon. Two weeks later, we waited in the waiting room for an hour and a half for the results of the x-rays, and we completely understand that wait times are going to be long, but when my mom got up to go to the receptionist to ask how much longer the wait would be, immediately the receptionists answered rudely and told my mom to just TRY and make another appointment for the following week and maybe he can get to her.... just so he can read the results of the x-rays. 3 weeks to just get the answer about an x-ray is beyond ridiculous because that appointment is literally going to be less than 10 minutes. My mom changed doctors the same day when we left that waiting room, and my grandmother changed doctors as well the same day. The doctor used to be great years ago as my grandmother had nothing but positive things to say about him, yet recently it's been the exact opposite. Unprofessional, belittles his patients, and needs to clean out his front office. Safe to say, I will not be having Schmit as my doctor."
"I live in Las Vegas now, but for years Dr. Schmidt was my doctor. He is so fantastic that for several years after moving to Las Vegas, I commuted to San Pedro to see him for my regular appointments. It is true that the waiting room time is often extensive, but that is because the doctor spends as much time with his patients as they need, never rushing them out the door. I have had visits where he spent half an hour or more with me. And the review that blasted Mena is unbelievable. Mena is the kindest, sweetest nurse on earth."
"Dr. Schmidt is by far my favorite doctor, yes the wait does take a while but that's because he takes his time with every single patient and its worth it. I have never had a bad experience with him. He has treated me for my physicals and as a woman it is difficult feeling comfortable with a male doctor and by far he is like a best friend to me. I'm really sad that I have to change doctors because he isn't contracted with Medi-Cal patients I wish I could keep him as my primary. I'm going to miss you Dr. Schmidt! Hopefully I can go back one day as your patient."
"Mena should be fired. She is unprofessional, rude, and arrogant. Made the appointment over a month in advance. Waited based on the reputation of Dr. Schmidt . Arrived prior to appointment time and had all paperwork completed within minutes. After waiting 90 minutes in the office, and witnessing several people being seen prior to me that had arrived after i did...I approached the window to determine the status of my appointment. The ladies at the front window were nice, however extremely unhelpful. Mena called me to the back to tell me I was an hour away from seeing the Dr. That's 150 minutes PAST my appointment time. Mena said I should go run errands and come back. Frustrated I stated that length of wait time should be expressed to patients upon arrival, especially those with appointments. Mena redirected the conversation towards me stating I was rude and that I have an attitude. Uh, yeah, after 90 minute wait time and an hour left to go with a 10:30 appointment, I DO HAVE AN ATTITUDE! She raised her voice & tone became snappy. I called my insurance company to make sure no payment was rendered as I never saw the Dr. As well as filing a formal complaint with Anthem. I will never be back. I'd rather commute to see a good Dr. The front office staff is a representation of the Dr. himself. I am disappointed in the inappropriate behavior by Mena. 90 minute wait, with an hour left to go with an appointment? Would have been nice to be informed of this rather be told to "go run errands and come back". I would have received better care from Urgent Care."
