"My husband and I contracted with Merribuild (previously Paul Merrick Construction and later Reliable Renovations) for a series of small jobs inside the house and around the patio. Paul’s team did excellent work on all of these jobs. At various times over about six years, we have had two bathrooms completely renovated, a gazebo and pergola installed, new sliding glass patio doors, a heat/ac splitter unit installed, and other projects. We really liked the way that they worked with us on prioritizing the many jobs we wanted, and that they respected our choices and never tried to sell us anything. I appreciated that they were agreeable to a contract that left the painting and detail work to me, which saved some money and thus allowed us to get more projects completed. We also appreciated that Paul was very upfront about additional expenses when we wanted changes and additions to the original contracts. Merribuild is very honest and we completely trust them. When our large tortoises escaped their nighttime enclosure in the garage and wreaked havoc, Paul and his team came quickly to our aid. We needed a heated outdoor shed because our tortoises do not hibernate in winter. I was impressed that Paul did extensive research about how to create an appropriate environment that would keep the tortoises warm and dry, and would withstand the wear and tear that large tortoises would inevitably inflict on it. He even called the San Diego Zoo to ask what they use for their tortoises! I had never even thought of doing that. After they were finished with the build, we insulated the interior, and put in heat lamps to augment the tortoise-proof floor heaters that Merribuild had installed. Our tortoises have been very comfortable in their warm, cozy shed during cold winter nights and rainy seasons. If anyone needs a tortoise shed, these are your guys! We appreciated that while working in the yard, the guys were always mindful of where the tortoises were, and were very conscientious about keeping the gates closed so the escape artists never had a chance to make a break for it. It’s important things like that, that build trust and confidence. We will definitely be calling on Paul and his team again in the future! I would most highly recommend Paul Merrick, his son Sean, and their team, without any reservations whatsoever."
