"I wish I could share good news about this situation. Raul spent over a year working on our property - he delayed the project and would go WEEKS and MONTHS without replying. He told us he knew how to do plumbing - he did not, we failed our inspection. He showed up for work between 11am-2/3pm most days and only did full days a handful of times. We paid for work that never was fully completed and also advanced money multiple times. As of now he’s been ignoring us for over a month and owes us $4k+ in work that has to be completed or refunded and has decided that ghosting is the best way to handle this. At this point he’s done this over 5x. It’s exhausting and infuriating. If you want someone who starts off good, and doesn’t finish all the work and holds up the work and then ignores you - hire him"

Have him write out what he wants. This is ordinary stuff to do, but Raul Garcia's so likeable that it's easy to just launch into the work before making sure everybody writes down what they want. Also, get a copy of his insurance coverage. He's a great guy. Does good, fast work. But if you're a nervous supervisor of work --- spend the time to talk to him about what you need to see.
