"If you want a good job that is done honestly and with integrity, then this is the shop to bring your project to. Mine started in the summer of 2018, first as just a simple paint job and reassembly. Being in the automotive business I am well aware of how projects like this can get out of control, and it was just one more if you do this you need to do that scenario on my part. But the best part about Dave and Bobby they will give their honest opinion of the direction you are going and if it is worth it. You also can't be in a hurry because at the end of the day they are creating art and that takes time, so you have to be patient. When covid hit in 2020 like everyone else they had to shut down and lost employees. Replacing employees in a custom shop is difficult because not just anyone can do the job. So, after some time they were able to get back to my project, and get it finished around summer of 2022. Part of the issue was getting parts for my car which were not easy to do and even worse after covid. I finally got the car (since I live in another state) and it was a flawless paint job (it turned into a rotisserie paint job), and everything seemed great. Not long after, I started having issues with the motor rebuild, so Bobby flew out to my house, and we worked on it for the day. After we were done Dave and Bobby determined that they needed to get the car back, so they had it picked up and they pulled the motor sent it to another rebuilder, reinstalled it, and tested for about 200 miles. They also took care of a few minor little details and shipped it back to me standing behind their work and everything is going great with the car now. What impressed me the most is their commitment to make sure the job was done right, and the customer was happy. Any project I have in the future that requires a custom shop they have my business hands down."
"I’ve used back alley on a few different projects, including paintwork on a 62 T-Bird and a big electrical and mechanical job on a Triumph Spitfire. They did excellent work in both cases, are easy to work with and honest. They run a shop with integrity and Terri in the front office is awesome."
"I have been researching hot rod shops in the area, and Dave really seems to know his stuff. I'm a builder too, and also a car dealer. His shop is first class, and his work is excellent. They are currently a *great job my electric Hudson Hornet."
"I used Back Alley Restoration to complete my 1949 Chevy truck restoration. They gave me what appeared to be a beautiful paint job. Over the first year of driving, paint started to bubble on the edges of the bed rails. Clearly a paint prep issue. I took the truck in for them to see and they agreed it was a prep issue, but then started blaming materials, that I supplied, and then time, and so on. They big guy, (don't remember his name) came out, instantly defensive, and refused to back up his shops work. I would recommend not using this shop if not for the lack of quality, but for the lack customer service and willingness to take care of the mistakes his shop made.to repair and repaint again."
"On a scale of 1-5 stars, Backalley Restorations earns 11 stars in my book. I inherited a 1929 Model A from my dad, which although fully restored, was not running. After searching for a mechanic willing to work on it for awhile to no avail, my wife happened upon Backalley Restorations. Yes, they had the Model A running in no time. But that was only the beginning. I had never driven the car before and when I was driving the back to where I store the car, anti-freeze began to spray out of the radiator cap and onto the windshield. I pulled over and called them wondering if I should bring the car back so they could fix the leak (this was not a part of the car they had worked on). Bobby said he would come to where I was, in order to help me to get where I was going. He explained to me that Model A's do not have a closed radiator system like new cars so they do spray on occasion. He brought a container of water and wiped down the sprayed anti-freeze off the paint and windshield, and then followed me the rest of the way to storage. Bobby then gave me a ride back to his shop where my everyday car was parked. During the ride I told him about how the hydraulic pump went out on my car which controls the convertible roof and trunk, and because the manufacturer discontinued the part that I was having trouble finding a new one. Later that evening Bobby texted me a link to a company that rebuilds the pump I need. He did this completely on his own and out of the blue. I just order that part, so my everyday car will be back like new soon too. To say that this company gets it when it comes to service is an understatement. In addition to Bobby's unbelievable personal attention, everyone there is terrific. Terri was very helpful and informative when my wife was contacting them initially and throughout the process. Bobby provided me with several updates along the way (especially impressive considering they had the car for only a week). Dave was very helpful with information about pricing and selling the car, which I am going to be doing. They were completely transparent and honest throughout all our interactions. I cannot say enough good things about them. Call them - you will be glad you did!"
