Celebrating 14 years of serving the Athens community, Em's Kitchen has grown from its humble beginnings as a soda fountain in Hawthorne Drugs. Founded by Andy and Debbie Ullrich in 1990, the soda fountain quickly became a local favorite. Today, under the stewardship of Emily, who started her journey here as a teenager, Em's Kitchen continues to honor its roots while expanding its offerings.

Our catering services have flourished, supporting many local institutions such as UGA, Athens Tech, and various school districts. Whether it's a casual meeting or a special event, our catering is crafted with love and attention to detail.

"My coworkers have called me “obsessed” about this place, but honestly it’s just such a perfect place to swing by and grab lunch. The employees and owner are always the sweetest, and I always feel like there’s a great atmosphere walking in. My personal favorite foods to get: Pimento cheese BLT with extra red pepper sauce on sourdough, and the Chicken salad sandwich on wheat. They’re simple, but mouth watering every time I consider what to get lunch. Their specials are always tempting too, and the gooey bars are a nice dessert to go with a meal. Honestly 10/10 I recommend this place to everyone I know."

"Covid update. They are open for inside and outdoor dining. Masks are required until you’re seated. Employees all had masks on. I had the shrimp wrap special one Friday, and it was absolutely delicious. It had a very nice chipotle flavor. My husband, as always, got the Cuban, which he loves. I also, as always, got a bowl of the Brunswick stew with cornbread. My only regret is that I’m not again eating this meal right now. No changes to the parking, but there’s a big grocery store parking lot right next door. Still highly recommend. Have been here a few times. Very cute and intimate place for breakfast and lunch. I’ve had the over easy eggs, the Cuban sandwich, and the Brunswick stew. One of my favorite places in Athens to get Brunswick stew, actually. There is not a lot of seating, not very much parking, and it gets pretty packed at lunchtime, so I would advise against going during peak hours."
