"First of all, I don’t blame the staff. They seem to be doing the best they can. But my phone calls went unreturned for over a week prompting me to come into the office. I’ve been here both before Irma and after Ian so I have seen this office in different circumstances. Everything is paper based. I had to print and fill out a form. When I came to the office to drop it off, I was initially told I’d need to sign in and wait. The city should have moved to electronic forms along time ago. Transitioning would allow staff to be allocated elsewhere. Today, five months after Ian there were people waiting outside the waiting area. I’v e waited here for over an hour BEFORE Irma. Can’t imagine how long those people had to wait today. Cities in zones where disasters are inevitable should have systems in place to work through these times efficiently. Bonita does not."
"I have never been in the community development department before hurricane Ian. I have to say the girls that work here have made this horrendous experience much more bearable! I am so grateful for their guidance and support during this stressful time! Thank you so much for your patience and hard work!"
