"Thank you Dr. Balbas and team! A year ago, I faced a daunting situation. I had broken my humerus bone near my shoulder joint, causing significant damage and impacting my already compromised rotator cuff. The pain was immense, and the injury was extensive. Thankfully, I found myself in the capable hands of Dr. Balbas and his team. After a weekend in the hospital managing the pain and swelling, Dr. Balbas performed a complex reverse shoulder replacement surgery. The procedure involved navigating a broken bone, torn ligaments, and the overall complexity of my injury (let's just say, I wasn't in the best shape!). The recovery wasn't easy, but Dr. Balbas, his PA, and the physical therapy team provided exceptional care and expertise throughout the process. Their dedication and collaboration have put me firmly on the path to regaining almost full use of my shoulder, all while keeping me comfortable. Words cannot express my gratitude for Dr. Balbas's skill, the PA's support, and the entire team's compassion and professionalism."
"If you are considering seeing Dr. Balbas, read this before you schedule an appointment. If I could give 0 stars I would. I was in every sport you could think of up until I had an injury that would change my whole life. I fell off a beam in gymnastics with no padding underneath me and ever since I have had pain in the left knee ever since. I went and got an MRI in 2015 when this accident occurred and they told me that there was just extra fluids and I completed PT. The pain came back not shortly after PT and I dealt with it as best I could until recently (mind you I am only 21 years old). I got two steroid shots in my knee from my PCP. although that is the most relief I have ever had, unfortunately I can’t have any more due to the noticeable atrophy that it has caused. I am a firm believer in giving people second chances. I did my research on all physicians at Tulsa Bone & Joint and decided on Dr. Balbas because I thought he would actually take me seriously. First, he was very late. Ironic considering that Tulsa bone threatens their patients with a $50 late fee. Anyways, Dr. Balbas ordered me x-rays and an MRI on my first appointment. During the consultation I explained to him that PT doesn’t work long-term and I also don’t have time in my schedule to go to that. I thought I made it very clear to him that it was not an option. Fast forward the next couple weeks, I got my x-rays and MRI done and I was really optimistic. I had a 9:30 appointment scheduled, was there on time, and Dr. Balbas was 45 minutes late, which I had to explain to my boss. Also, just to throw it out there, he NEVER showed me my x-rays or my MRI and now I have to deal with other employees in this facility that don’t have a great attitude. The first thing he says is “well everything looks great”. That’s great man but like I don’t feel great every single day. After he says that he tells me that I have severe atrophy in my knee and absolutely no fat to cushion my two joints. He recommended PT to me to which I replied “I don’t have time for that, and it doesn’t work”. I asked him about multiple courses of treatments such as the chicken fat shot which would provide me with fat between my joints. He said I was not a good candidate for that treatment. He also denied me prescription medications that would help with the pain, and instead said that I can use Tylenol. So basically I spent $1000 to get told that I don’t have a knee injury and there is absolutely nothing they can do for me. I am 21 years old and I don’t know what to do anymore. I won’t be able to chase my kids one day, or get down on their level without being in pain. Dr. Balbas, I hope you read this review so you can understand how you have made me feel. Angry is an understatement. This whole business is a money scheme. To whoever reads and runs the google reviews, I will not be taking this comment down. You will not just sweep this under the rug. People deserve to know the truth, because I wish I did before I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Balbas."
