"It took almost a year for my appointment. I was so excited to find out why medications don’t react right with my body chemistry. They would only talk about my risk for blood clots, would not test for anything else, and I was not allowed to make a follow up appointment. They destroyed my last bit of hope and now I’m just waiting for whatever is wrong with me to take me out because there is nothing left to advocate for. They have all failed me."

"I am extremely irritated, upset, and disappointed. I scheduled an appointment over 6 months ago to meet with a genetic neurologist at University Alabama Birmingham (UAB) clinical genetics, and traveled 3 hours to Birmingham, Alabama, for it. Upon arrival, I discovered that this appointment could have taken place over the phone and that I was mistakenly scheduled for genetic counseling, which I did not request. None of my questions were answered, and the counselor repeatedly left the room to seek answers from others, returning with no useful information. The only suggestion made was a referral to the ataxia clinic, which would require another 3-hour drive, likely for nothing. This entire trip, which required significant preparation and expense, could have been avoided if someone had reviewed my chart and location beforehand. This experience was a frustrating waste of my time and resources."

"My son goes here to see Doctor Rutledge. He has seen her since birth and I also saw her as a child. We absolutely love her and the staff! She is a wonderful doctor! We have never felt rushed and always l leave with all questions answered. Parking in this part of town is not great. That's not a complaint, just saying if its your first time give yourself extra time to find a space and possibly walk over to the building."
