"storm damage, water a little murky, but the seashells where visible, we'll maintain beach, surrounding rainwater very smell and lots of bugs. The beach however was beautiful"
"The beach itself is beautiful, there was some seaweed but not to bad. Waves were very rough so we didn't go out in it (nobody else was either) but was still beautiful, alot of pretty shells too. The worse part was no parking. We almost got a $150 ticket because of where we did park at. The 5 mile ride over to the island was beautiful too except for the construction. Can't wait til it's all open again so we can go back"
"The beach was rough. It was our first time visiting. If you want to visit with your kids to pick shells, it's a perfect afternoon spent. It was beautiful. You could see for what seemed like miles up and down the beach. The water was so incredibly choppy that I'd NEVER let my kids get in the ocean there. We did see a dolphin around 5pm. This area was devastated by the hurricane 2 years ago, but they are rebuilding, and it shows. We would visit again, but we'd probably only stay briefly to walk thr beach to look for shells and have dinner at Doc Ford's."
"This area is busy rebuilding after the hurricane so not currently at its best. The beach is lovely and has showers and restrooms. The only parking is a short walk away and is $5 per hour via an online payment service. They have installed free WiFi at the pay station so it works fine but is a bit steep if you are spending the day there. Not much else to see when we were there as the nature reserve is closed on Fridays and most of the island is private land with no view of the sea and no access from the road. If you've come as a foreign tourist in a rental car, the bridge toll will be $6 plus $3 admin fee plus whatever your rental company adds to that, so be prepared for a relatively expensive tariff on a short visit."
"Pretty beach a little walk from the parking area has bathrooms which are nice-and showers - just make sure to take bug spray as late afternoons the bugs are out in full force -pay to park using app - some people couldn’t get the app to work-"
