"It was a very nice visit. The changes that were made made a big difference in viewing the ships that came in. There were 3 levels to view from, but it didn't leave much room for many visitors to one area, but it's still a good place to go for viewing the ships."
"Brand new visitor center that opened in May. Many good displays. The third floor is a balcony that looks over the lock. You can see the whole process. There's someone there to answers your questions."
"Awesome place to visit and watch the process of lowering the locks. Staff were friendly and the facilities were clean and modern. The lock process took a while but was very cool to watch."
"This visit was part of a sentimental, nostalgic trip to a place where we first lived early in our marriage. Not having been married even a year, my wife and I packed up and moved to Massena, NY as a transfer for my career. She worked her first summer in Massena as a tour guide and the Eisenhower Locks at a visitor's center that no longer exists. Thank goodness! Newly opened last month, the new and greatly improved visitor center is a sight to behold. The new center offers up close views of ships transiting the locks, interactive exhibits targeting young and old alike, and well-trained, knowledgeable guides, explaining what one sees. John and Sydnie were two guides who were particularly helpful. Their passion to talk about the importance, history, and details of the St. Lawrence Seaway was impressive. If you are in the north country of New York, this is a kid friendly, adult engaging must-see attraction. And it's free!"
"New facility looks great and has fun and interactive exhibits. The observation decks have great views. I strongly recommend a gift shop and some snacks beyond a vending machine. People were surprised how breezy it was out on the decks ( sweatshirts, throws, wraps) and families struggled with small kids while the ships got into the locks ( candy, snacks, small toys for a distraction). I love the facility! Give people a reason to linger and have a memento of their visit. Perhaps also local crafts including Awkwasasne Nation artisans. It's free to enter and there are elevators."
