"The first of the two Batteries in Fort Tilden . Battery East will have a staircase with about 70 steps to the top and also a small deck observatory for bird watching and great views of the Marine Park bridge . Further down the path is battery west β more of the same with graffiti and 2 abandoned buildings hallowed out overrun with wild brush"
"Nice view from the top but the grounds are awful. Graffiti all over, even on the wood steps going up. When I went in a Saturday afternoon, there was a large group on the viewing platform smoking blunts and drinking and blocking the platform so no one else could enter. There seems to be no park ranger or police presence at Ft. Tilden. I cannot accept the NPS allows graffiti and disorder all over this National Patk."
"FORT TILDEN. I everyone, I was told about some bunkers out in riis beach in far Rockaway, I visited all bunkers except one..I was told there is a underground middle silo you can climb into. I really want to see it and spent hours today looking for it. Can someone on here help me out? Maybe direct me to it?"
"Beautiful views. Parks & Recreation need to do more to stop kids from destroying the place. Every time i go, i bring gloves and trash bags. A good sweeping would be nice. If i could borrow one nearby I'd do it myself."
"Interesting abandoned fort-like structure that you can also go on top of."
