Welcome to Liberty Park, your gateway to vibrant community involvement and natural beauty in the heart of Jersey City, New Jersey. Located on Garfield Avenue, Liberty Park has been empowering residents in the planning, implementation, and care of Jersey City’s parks and open spaces since 2005. As the city's dedicated non-profit partner, we manage activities and events, maintain lush gardens, advocate for playgrounds, and preserve the rich history of our area.

Our network of 29 member parks thrives on the support of community volunteers, who play a crucial role in keeping Jersey City green and welcoming. Each year, hundreds of residents come together for National Make A Difference Day, one of the largest annual single-day service events nationwide. In Fall 2021, the #JCBigDig saw over 16,000 tulip, daffodil, and allium bulbs planted by dedicated Jersey City locals.

In April 2022, Jersey City proudly received the Tree City USA designation from the National Arbor Day Foundation, recognizing our commitment to urban forestry. Through our City of Trees initiative, we aim to plant 5,000 new trees, with 500 already taking root in 2021. Our advocacy efforts, alongside the Jersey City Shade Tree Committee established in 2019, focus on preserving shade trees and enhancing the benefits they provide for current and future residents. Despite a 14% tree canopy coverage, our collaborative network is developing innovative strategies to manage and expand our urban forest.

Jersey City boasts 67 open spaces that serve as public parks, contributing to our mission of building vibrant communities. Unique spaces like the Harsimus Cemetery and the Embankment further enrich our city's landscape and community spirit.
