Welcome to Oak St. Park - Your Community's Green Oasis in Jersey City!

Located in the heart of Jersey City, New Jersey, Oak St. Park has been empowering residents since 2005 to play an active role in the planning, implementation, and care of our city's cherished parks and open spaces. As the city’s non-profit partner, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for all residents through the management of activities and events, garden maintenance, playground advocacy, and historical preservation.

Our network of 29 member parks thrives on the dedication of community volunteers who come together each year for initiatives like the National Make A Difference Day. This event is one of the largest single-day service efforts nationwide, and in Fall 2021, it saw the planting of over 16,000 tulip, daffodil, and allium bulbs by passionate Jersey City residents as part of the #JCBigDig initiative.

In recognition of our commitment to urban forestry, Jersey City proudly received the Tree City USA designation from the National Arbor Day Foundation in April 2022. Our City of Trees initiative aims to plant 5,000 trees, further supported by our advocacy work with the Jersey City Shade Tree Committee. Despite a current 14% tree canopy coverage, our collaborative network is dedicated to developing innovative strategies to enhance and preserve our urban forest for present and future generations.

Jersey City boasts 67 open spaces, including unique sites like the Harsimus Cemetery and the Embankment, each contributing to our mission of building vibrant communities.
