About the Business

Welcome to the official website of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, a sacred place of worship nestled in the heart of Queens, New York, at 45-03 48th Avenue. As a proud part of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan of the Two Americas, our church serves as a spiritual haven for the Romanian community and all those who seek solace and connection with their faith.
Founded in 1974 by a group of dedicated Romanian families, St. Nicholas Church was established to preserve the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Romania within the vibrant tapestry of New York City. Our parish is a welcoming sanctuary where tradition and faith are cherished and celebrated.
We invite you to join us in our various services and liturgical events. Highlights include the Dormition of the Mother of God, celebrated with Matins and Holy Liturgy, and the Holy Liturgy & Service for those who are asleep. We also host regular Sunday services, including Matins and The Holy Liturgy, fostering a deep sense of community and spiritual growth.
Our church is guided by the words of Matthew 7:7-11: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you." We believe in the power of prayer and the strength of community, and we welcome all to experience the warmth and devotion that define our parish.
Whether you are a long-time parishioner or a first-time visitor, St. Nicholas Church is a place where you can find peace, support, and a deep connection to your faith. We look forward to welcoming you to our community.
Reviews
"We had our baptism in this lovely church and it was a wonderful experience in every way."
"The Romanian Orthodox Church is the only Orthodox Church that uses Latin liturgically so is the perfect alternative to Roman Catholicism."
"My place of worship which I go there every Sunday and the priest Marius Daniel Dumitrescu and other people in the church are very respectful with Sunday school available for children ages 3 and older including teens. The school encourage kids to learn Romanian and offer bible studies which they are served with meals before the start of each class. Special events does takes place including the Agapa Frateasca on the occasion of the Day of St. Nicholas Church on December 9 and the annual trip to Summer Camp, St. Petersburg Demetrios The New Monastery, Middletown, just to mention a few. Very nice place of worship indeed and you can consider the people of the church as one big family who are very religious and aims at preserving the culture, language, and the orthodox religion of Romania."
"It's a very humble and quiet place to worship"
"A lovely, warm place of worship with wonderful people."
