"Very saddened to hear from my parents' HHA, that her son is currently being physically assaulted and bullied on a daily basis at his middle school in this district. Over the past 3 school days, his mother reports to me, she has made repeated phone calls and requests, for an appointment with school personnel to address this matter. Earlier today, when this student's mother expressed her frustration during a phone call to one of the school's administrative assistants, that party actually laughed in response. Apparently, the Center Moriches school district has a real problem addressing the needs of a minority student...I received a report from this child's mother that one of her son's teachers spoke these words to her child when he asked a teacher for help...."You are the problem*#?1'."
"I absolutely love my district. I have had 3 children go through the district and almost every teacher was wonderful, understanding, caring and quality! The building is old, but the district is working hard to maintain and improve it each year. I love that there is diversity among students, clubs that welcome all, strong sports teams and a FANTASTIC theater department filled with talented people! Small town vibe, lovely people!"
