"Queens College Softball Field is one of those facilities that just has that look and feel of a contrived field simply put up to fill out a space, and to use what space is available. There is just enough room to put up a field to barely meet NCAA specifications. To be fair, when you are a New York City college, and you want to build a field, you know that land is at a premium, and you build where you can, especially if the alternative is having to buy or rent land off campus to do so. So Queens College took a small space between a building and the tennis courts and stuck a softball field in it. It's a grass field which can provide occasionally some adventurous hops on hits and plenty of sloppy footing after rains. There also was no place to put stands in, so they just plopped up a pair of bleachers on top of the berm in center field to give fans a place to sit. To say the least, it's not the most comfortable scene, and even more, the late afternoon sun can make watching a game even more uncomfortable. Queens College could have done better."
