Reviews
"Literacy Buffalo-Niagara is an awesome resource for adults who are learning English as a second (or more) language or have reading difficulties that hold them back from accessing our widely literate world. While they do undertake one-on-one tutoring, they do all kinds of literacy work, including digital literacy. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, and as a volunteer, they really work to support you, so that you can best serve your students. They also work to try and match up students with tutors in terms of where they can find common ground and really build trust and rapport. All that said, they're always looking for good volunteers. While there's some important and kind of intensive training right at the beginning, after that, the tutoring is very rewarding."
"I wish I could give more stars but I need to warn prospective tutors that support is patchy to nonexistent, and the "coach" doesn't read your emails and did not deliver promised planning tools."
"I had a very good experience working with the literacy volunteers staff and literacy tutors. I would recommend this agency to anyone looking to help the community."
