Reviews
"I’m honestly kind of shocked by the poor reviews — I joined recently and am really loving the experience. Very spacious, classes included in membership, a sauna, and a big open area where you have the ability to seclude yourself if you want to. I had a good experience with staff upon my first visit as well."
"OK, I really don't like bringing up race.I know that Brooklyn is a multi racial community where all races & walks of life feel ostracized at times wether you be African American, Hispanic, Muslim or part of sexual minority community. I am a visabley Orthodox Jewish man with an extremely reconziabley Jewish hebrew name .So I definitely have felt my fair share of ire from others in my life & have become quite an expert at sensing it. Unfortunately, I have to say I sensed it from the front desk staff & general staff the most, not the gym members. I want to make an absolute exclusion to all the sales staff who were all absolutely wonderful, especially Andrew Ganesh. What a wonderful employee he is.He couldn't have been nicer or more helpful! The front desk employee was very cold when I first walked in to inquire as well were the employees who where around the gym (some even working out themselves in plain clothes) there was one in particular working out mext to me giving unfriendly & judgmental glares. Wether it be because I was visabley Jewish (with a head covering & a very Jewish hebrew name which he had heard when he was at the front desk) or because they didn't like my workout routine, I don't know but I felt totally & utterly unwelcome & exceedingly uncomfortable. Fast forward....I wasn't sure when the gym closed, I thought 11pm because other Crunch gyms close then but I was wrong.Nobody approached me to tell me when it closes (& I was wearing headphones so I was just going on the fact there where still other members there working out & the lights where still fully on). Finally at 10:30 the same employee who had been glaring at me during my workout approached me & said dissmively "Bro, we close at 10pm!" & then proceeded to look nosely at my phone to see what I was watching.Felt totally humiliated privacy violated, judged simultaneously by him at that moment & throughout the entire visit. When I walked out and apologized to a different employee who was now at the front desk.He literally ignored me & my apology, purposely didn't make eye literally looking down instead & after a odd 20 second pause visabley had to force up two fingers & said "peace".No goodbye,no goodnight, no "it's alright."Just a forced silence. I dont like to be made to feel uncomfortable in a space as sacred to me at the gym especially by the employees themselves but throughout out my very first day there it was specifically the front staff who made me feel incredibly targeted & uncomfortable. You guys should put better care into teaching tolerance to all people & tolerance in your training. Was just an awful experience!"
"Great gym, most equipment is in good shape, but 2 out of the 3 lat pulldowns have some serious sticking issues and don't work properly. Unfortunately it feels like this has been an issue for at least over a year."
"good machines, most of the staff are cool. Unhelpful and horrible manager. Gym policy also sucks here. paid $100+ a month for a year and still gets charge $25 to bring a guest 1 time lmao. you can go to any cheap gym, sign up for a mid plan and bring unlimited guest. just go to another crunch or blink, not worth the money unless u actually go at least 5 times a week"
"I like this location because of variety of classes and some really good instructors. Plenty of equipment. Classes all day long. Pleasant staff at front desk. My only complaint is the cleanliness of the sauna. The temperature is perfect but there are often some type of white stains like today on the bench, the floor near the heater and the bench in that corner. I snapped a couple of pics but decided not to post them because it might look inappropriate..There are free unlimited clean towels within reach, why not use them. The rest of the gym looks clean."
