"Affordable hotel with a remarkably friendly staff. I stayed with my two small children and ran into a problem at check in. Instead of being put-out by my kids (who were happy to be out of the car after a long day of travel), Lyn really came to the rescue and helped entertain them while Eric helped get the computer working for my check in. They both did amazing. We only stayed three nights, but even the housekeepers recognized us and engaged with the kids. Becca was especially friendly and kind."
"Review for Red Roof Inn in Herkimer I recently had a short stay at the Red Roof Inn in Herkimer and was extremely satisfied with my experience. The room was impeccably clean, which made for a very comfortable stay. The personnel were friendly and inviting, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Overall, the service and accommodations exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and look forward to staying here again in the future."
"I stayed one night in Herkimer NY on a recent road trip to visit my mother. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, very quiet rooms, and everything was as advertised. Check in and check out was extremely fast and easy. Of note, I saw one of the managers (on Sunday night) walking the parking areas picking up a few pieces of litter. That showed me that they are motivated to taking good care of the place and their customers."
"Some say you get what you pay for, but truthfully, it feels a bit overpriced. This is a motel. Whoever did the photography of the facility really out did themselves on making this place look like it is worth the 150$ bucks a night, which feels like a hotel price…not a motel price. Staff are kind and friendly, it’s not their fault they are stuck working here. As for the room, we stayed in a room inside on the second floor with a king bed. The hallway outside of our room was lined with oily hand prints and was quite narrow. The bed was like sleeping on a snow covered filing cabinet. Not because it was cold, but the bed was just about as comfortable as lying on packed snow. Besides the weird uncomfortable metal beds, the room was mostly clean…just don’t look too closely and you’ll be fine. There was a noticeable amount of dust blanketing the arm chair in the room as well as dust bunnies, crumbs, and remnants of previous guests lining the outer edges of the room. Some of this is to be expected, but the amount that was in our room was noticeable without close inspection. Now when you take into consideration that there is a $100-$200 cleaning fee if there is any suspected perceivable trace evidence of cigarette or vape smoke, and it’s $150 a night, I would at least expect there not to be corn kernel sized crumbs and dust bunnies visible from across the room. All in all, I think it’s a bit overpriced but not terrible. We stayed with our dogs and it was nice to have a pet friendly option close to the thruway. We did also have to book a room last minute so maybe a bit of planning ahead or coupon code hunting might help bring the cost to a more reasonable price point. A fine recommendation if you are in a pinch with a pooch, but otherwise I would most likely recommend trying something else first."
"You do get what you pay for. It's not the Ritz: a bit dated, but clean. Our room was on the second floor - I was glad we were only staying one night, since there's no elevator. The beds were comfortable but way too high (has that become a trend of some sort?) and they had strange metal "boxes" under them. Mine was fine but my cousin's sounded like a gong every time she turned over. Didn't bother me (or her) but the people downstairs must've heard the noise. The shower was okay - I've been in places with virtually no hot water, so hot water is a big plus. We were in a "suite" which seems to mean there's a kitchenette. Unfortunately, there are no dishes of any kind, but the microwave and refrigerator were useful. The table was fair-sized and there were two chairs, but there should be two of the "barrel chairs" instead of just one. There's ample room for two. Pro: right next to Denny's. Breakfast was good at the hotel, and Denny's was a treat for supper. Con: between I90 and the railroad tracks. To be fair, we let the fan run all night and neither of us heard traffic or trains, so don't let that put you off. All in all, this Red Roof Inn is good value for the price."
