"I decided to cancel my sessions here because it wasn’t a good fit for me. I initially chose Spear due to its convenient location and high rating. As a rec athlete who has done PT before, I felt Spear lacked a level of professionalism that I am used to and expect if I am going to pay $40/session with insurance. Some people like the “college campus” energy of the place where you have to wait for therapists to finish their personal conversations before leading you through your next exercise. I did not. It is not a place that feels personalized unless you are willing to invest in the crowded environment with the right therapist. Good: Front desk comms, ease with insurance, client dashboard, therapists are qualified Not good: Spear is business-oriented instead of people-focused and this is reflected by its overbooked environment"
"Maggie and Aneeka have been a tremendous help as I recover from a scaphoid (wrist) fracture. Conveniently located, the office and staff are always in good spirits. It’s been easy to keep my 2x/week schedule and I can definitely see progress. Some folks may prefer dedicated 1-on-1 PT time but I like the current group setting as it makes for interesting conversations and develops camaraderie with other folks recovering from similar hand surgery. Maggie and Aneeka always give clear instructions, homework and rotate in new stretches and even games to keep therapy fresh and challenging. I highly recommend their practice for certified hand therapy care."
"I was there for 3ish months curing my flat feet cause I was having ankle pain. No doubt my ankle problems went away from the exercises my therapist taught me. But I would do the same things every week I go in, I switched it up a bit later on but I started loosing interest. I understand repetition is good for people who were injured, I wasn’t really struggling with those movements they taught me, I don’t feel sore after class, it was just boring going in doing the same things. At one point I mentioned my knees were hurting and it feels like my knee cap wants to pop off. We still didn’t do any knee exercises because I came in for ankle pain. Well….everything is connected… my flat feet caused my knees to cave in and then my hip hurts. Maybe I should have stuck around a bit longer and my therapist would start introducing knee exercises? But it seems like they only focus on 1 thing. I wish they were less strict about focusing on 1 part of your body. It’s important other part of your muscles help support and build strength for the weaker parts. Don’t get me wrong, my ankle pain went away, I do feel a little better for my flat feet, I just felt like we were only working on my ankles and feet and not working other muscle groups that are caused by flat feet. So verdict, good but not well rounded"
"First of all, EVERYONE that I have had ANY conversation with at Spear is as nice as can be. Whoever is responsible for hiring/on-boarding/training is doing a GREAT job. Although I have the misfortune of needing to go to Spear, I’ve had the good fortune of being in the hands of 2 truly EXCELLENT therapists, Maggie and Tori. I hope management appreciates you! Give these EXCEPTIONAL young ladies a raise!"
"I've been going to spear since I had my shoulder/Bicep surgery which was back in November, and Maggie has been the best! I feel tremendous improvement in mobility and strength just 12 weeks post op. Maggie has been nothing but supportive and has provided 5 star service. I would highly recommend to any one that needs PT, go to spear in Williamsburg!"
