"Overall this college needs help in all departments. I just transferred over to another college and I must say there was such a hugggggggggge difference. EPOS IS A JOKE. I did everything that was required and had to keep checking in all semester long so imagine for 6 months having to check in every week to be told heck in again next week. I was even told talk to the director and she did nothing. By the time summer hit I was told I would have to start the process all over again even tho being always told the technical is out but they will give me a call. Certain staff in departments looks down upon you in ways. It’s weird when they are supposed to be the ones guiding you especially if it’s your first time at college. The ladies in calworks especially sherry was nice. My instructors were nice. Umojia village was not structured at all and I really wish I learned a lot more. But two workers there were very kind.I was apart of pride which for me wasn’t the best experience. The president didn’t really let others have a fair share at things. I held two positions that led to a complete waste of time. When I became vice president(offered to me) and wanted to run by different ideas, I was told put them in the suggested box. If we are both president and vice president, we should be able to talk over things and then bring them to the supervisor . I tried applying for jobs that I was told to apply for and pay for live scan just to not get the job because it went to someone that they knew. THE HUB IS NOT IT! It is not structured well and it was just very unstructured to say the least and that’s putting it in nice words . Tried studying there once and no line out of the village section there was explicit songs playing. It’s basically so much going on in that space that’s it’s best to just stay away. Especially if you’re older. My overall first time experience college was tainted but at the new college they are giving me the experience I missed out. Even helped with housing. Basic needs was the big highlight of the whole campus. The cafeteria food was bomb but some of the workers were rude at times. As the financial aid office . There’s one particular lady with glasses who is Mexican and every time I went up there she was always rude. Oh and to top it all off, they didn’t put my financial aid Thur so the first week I was without, when asked I didn’t get an answer even tho it showed I was approved. Do better AVC."
"Just registered for two college classes. Both parking pass dispensers in the lot near the student services building were broken. Frustrating! I also suggest making the signs for those a bright color. They are brown, as is everything else in the AV! On a positive note, the two young people (one guy and one girl) working at the desk were so sweet and helpful. Saddatt (hope I spelled that correctly) in the IT department was awesome - helping me reset my account and register."
"Nice campus. Went there to watch a volleyball game."
"The lady at administration wasn't very friendly or welcoming, we feel like she was racist. She kept looking at us all weird, like if she felt we were in the wrong place. We felt like maybe our kids not coming to soar high school was maybe for the best."
"The Sheriff on campus is basically a gang. There have been multiple incidents in the past couple years where Sheriff intimidate students when asked for complaint reports. “If you value your education you better stop”"
