"Thank You! On Sunday, June 9th, several of you responded to my call at 422 Hubbell Ave. I had returned from a 15 minute trip to the store and found my husband, face down on the floor, arms at his side, his face in a small pool of blood and struggling to breathe. I was panicked to say the least. I think six of you arrived and all of you had a task and worked like a well-oiled machine as I stood over my unresponsive husband. My house was a mess and our old cat came out to see what the trouble was. It was elegantly fast how quickly and professionally he suddenly had a mask to help him breathe, he was on a special mat to carry him down the stairs and I was being informed it would be just a minute before the ambulance would be on its way to the hospital. I was reminded to make sure the house was properly closed up and locked and that I was to be safe and take my time driving to the hospital. Now I was about to tell you, we have been to Crouse more than once for me, but before doing so, one of you suggested the Upstate ER/Trauma center, because of the quality of care for this kind of situation. This could not have been more correct! We are grateful for the very sound advice! As I reached the end of my driveway and waited for the ambulance to start I thought of the time, I was picked up at the same address. I didn’t get a speedy trip to the ER, nor did I get a siren. I remember announcing that I must not be dying, if we were travelling in silence. My husband, John, got the full siren treatment and I got worried, needlessly it turned out. When I got home later that night, there was a trail of moved items and rugs between where he fell and the front door. I was embarrassed at our very messy house and the fact that I missed all of that “clearing the path.” I’m sorry for the added work. It reminds me of the days as a child when my mother would say, “Wear clean underwear in case you have to go to the hospital!” I will now keep the house tidier and make sure we are both wearing clean underwear! John, bty, had just experienced his first epileptic seizure at 60yo. He is now home and recovering nicely, thanks to the professional staff at Upstate. Thank you again and again for the very quick and professional service and care."
