"Beautiful place to visit and relax in the woods."
"Gorgeous little piece of wilderness right in the backyard of Shirley and Bellport. The sheer amount of birds, diversity in plant and animal species here is stunning, a little slice of heaven. Makes you think how much of LI was like this before it was settled so densely in the 1930s even into today. The Carmen's River is a relatively healthy river marsh ecosystem when compared to the Forge River and it shows. So many birds, black racer and garter snakes, osprey, bald eagles at Indian Landing, herons and egrets of every permutation, fowler toads, bull frogs, seagulls and so much more under the water's surface. Very very cool! Not a bad set of trails, bring bug spray though and watch for ticks!"
"Extremely beautiful and peaceful place to spend an afternoon. My family and I have visited and walked the trails many times and fall in love every time."
"Great trails Beutiful getaway just around the corner."
"Just .2 miles South of Marsh Overlook #1. In season you'll likely get squawked at by a pair of nesting Osprey on your way to #2. They're atop that leaning telephone pole. They won't be happy with your presence so just walk on by. If you're patient they'll be flying around and above the overlook observation deck over time. In season there's a lot of avian activity here. Scanning the horizon with binoculars you'll likely see hawks, gulls, and eagles hunting the river and marsh. Red wing blackbirds skillfully perch on the grass reeds in the marsh."
