NJ Transit Union Rail Station

"Station is new and for the most part clean and safe but parking for daily commuters is an issue. There is not enough parking and they have tons of permit parking that is just empty. This should be adjusted cause clearly people use the daily spots over permits. I have had to drive to Roselle Park to park a few times."

"Always clean station Bathrooms are usable and safe. The street level waiting room is clean and large. The on platform station waiting rooms are heated and ok. Parking lot is large and spacious. It's also used for freight trains, so they will be passing thru."

"How much more of a convenience is Union Train Station. For commuting students of Kean University, a major hassle has been removed. This station never existed before 2003 (a previous station about a half mile away called Townley had existed on a previous line but had closed in the 1940s and was torn down. Newark State College - now Kean University was built on on that spot and the line was rerouted subsequent). Prior to the construction of this station, Kean students and other commuters had to bus to and from Elizabeth or Roselle Park if they wanted to get to this location, or just cab it. Not much fun. This station has some nice amenities. It has a center platform with train level entry, making it ADA compliant, as well as an elevator from street level to platform level, and it has waiting rooms both at street level and at platform level, though the street level waiting room is closed on weekends. One other interesting aspect of the station is that below the platforms at street level, there is an interesting and educational mosaic depicting all cities and locations located on the latitude parallel as Union Train Station. Very interesting and unique."

"Yesterday there were no daily parking spaces open but there were lots of monthly spaces. Ultimately had to park in a monthly spot, train was coming in 5 mins. If parking enforcement comes, are you fined?"

"This train station is safe and fairly clean, but you're really stranded here. Hemmed in by parks and Golf Courses, it's. Three hour walk anywhere of consequence. In 3 years of occasionally going here I've never seen the station office open. the abandoned cafe space across from the station office has been closed and neglected since before my first trip. In other words- you can't as much as pee here. A bad place to get anywhere but back on train - plan your public transit trip from this station carefully. I feel Uber is about the only decent option. There's buses, but they run much differently on weekends. Bus schedules are available, plan accordingly"
