"This was my first time at this place and I’m disappointed. I saw reviews online and decided to book a silk press for an upcoming birthday. I arrived to my appointment on time and my stylist was available and got straight to work. She gave me some advice on flat ironing my hair at home and some product suggestions. She was sweet and easy to work with. Why 2 stars? I booked a silk press with cut/trim and I did not get a silk press. My hair looks more like a blow out that I did myself and this is only HOURS after I left the shop. While my hair feels soft, it is also a tad dry. The trim I got was decent, but I think more should’ve been taken off. My hair I noticed also had a slight burnt scent as I walked home. Nice as the service was, I would not return or recommend the silk press, especially considering the price of hair care these days."
"I came here from a recommendation in a group chat and had a great experience. I saw Shay Gomez and she took such great care styling my curls as I wanted them done a certain way for headshots. While I was there, I also saw her do silk presses and they looked amazing. The hair washing experience was top tier."
"Jaxcee was a 10/10. I’m Egyptian with coily hair and she understood exactly what I wanted for a silk press. She barely used much heat and my hair came out feeling silky smooth! Felt great to have my hair understood by a professional with intel and care. Will be returning back for other services :)"
"A great place that is deft in caring for, styling and maintaining the all of the different hair types of Afrodescendants. It was my first time there and I was taken quickly although it was an extremely busy time of the year before NYE. They focus on you and so you are not there for hours and hours unnecessarily. I just had a silk press done but my hair had been damaged and I had lost about six inches of length. I had a restorative conditioner and my stylist took out the time to guide me in options for my hair as it grows back and had amazing and creative ideas that really reflected how I am as a person and what i am comfortable with doing. Everyone at the salon was kind and professional. They were all friendly. Being from New Orleans, this is really importabt to me. There is water and tea and other beverages. It is located in a huge building. The entrance is not on the main street but rather around the corner next to a modern furniture store. The receptionist is astute and everything is streamlined for you. Many people seem unaware that there is such an amazing salon that caters to Afrodescendant hair types in this area but there it is and it is a gem. I definitely recommend it."
