"PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING - ESPECIALLY LAST PART - YOU MAY NOT END UP GETTING YOUR CAKE UNPROFESSIONAL BITTER ATTITUDES I would give 0 stars if possible. to start, I sent a request for my birthday cake on 8/2 for a quote and providing my inspo pic, which to me was simple but cute; the same process i've used for the last 4-5 years i've ordered from there. 3 days pass and no answer, i call for an update and they had trouble finding the email. i explained the differences i wanted and what i wanted written (there was a thick orange icing that i explained didnt need to be as thick as the picture with the words THIRTY TWO). the next day i get a call back asking if i wanted anything written on the cake, it was in the email i sent and i said it verbally the day prior, explaining AGAIN what i wanted. pick up was on 8/10 at 12:30 - 2 hours before my event. my fiance went to pick up for me and after 30ish minutes they finally hand him the cake and he facetimed me. (he expressed attitude in the shop was through the roof) i was speechless in the worst way and could not believe that is how they were trying to give me the cake. i wanted a centered "THIRTY TWO" right in the middle of the cake. it looked like a toddler decorated the cake. the writing was top center and SMALL. my fiance doesnt speak spanish so he passed the phone to the worker and i expressed how unhappy i was and requested it be fixed. she pushed back and said it was going to get ruined if they tried to fix it, she said the picture i sent her was a mini cake so thats why the writing looked full on the picture...i was confused because arent they supposed to be artists and creative and use common sense. if the cake is bigger, MAKE THE WRITING BIGGER. how much worse could it get? after pushing back on my request for a few minutes she agreed to make the writing bigger. the 2nd time i was shown the cake it looked even worse and just not the vibe of the cake. i asked her to fill up the space with some hearts at least. EVEN WORSE. the hearts were not placed with any love or creative intention. i went back and forth with the worker expressing how unhappy i was, that ive been a customer for years. so i decided to just take the cake and fix it with my cake toppers. a minute later my fiance calls me saying that the owner came out and yelled at him to get out and gave him back the money (shorted us $3) and did not hand him over the cake. i call the bakery and i speak to the same worker i was conversing with and she tells me that the owner decided not to give me the cake because i didnt like it !!! aside from the cake looking ugly, i was totally looking forward to eating the cake because it WAS my favorite. I told her who cares if i dont like the decoration i still wanted my cake because i paid for it. she proceeded to tell me that money is not the issue, sometimes the cake doesnt look like the picture (which im fully aware of) she said the owner has taken many cake writing courses and is the best in the shop. so i responded by saying i couldnt believe this was happening hours before my event just because the owner was offended that i didnt like the cake. i was willing to take the cake just because i loved the taste of it. but after treating my fiance the way that they did and how they spoke to me and their EXTREMEMLY POOR customer service. i will never buy a cake from them again and anyone reading this shouldnt either. this is probably the worst customer experience ive ever had."
"*THEY REFUSED OUR CAKE THE SAME DAY* We have been long time customers for over 10+ years. My sister had ordered a cake for her 32nd birthday and had sent her husband to pick it up. When he went, it literally looked like a child made it. We had sent a picture of what we wanted the cake to look like and it was NOTHING like it. My brother in law doesn't speak Spanish and they were incredibly rude to him so I ended up calling them while he was in the store. The lady explained to me that the owner did the writing and that's what my sister asked for. We went back and fourth as I was asking her to please fix and add stuff to the cake considering she paid $75 and her party was the same day. They attempted to "fix it" but it looked so forced and my sister wasn't happy with it. My sister called back and at this point the owner told her she took several courses for years to 'perfect' her baking. Ultimately she was so offended, she THREW the money paid for the cake at my brother in law, refused to give us the cake, and told him to get out. The flavor of the cake was good which is why we always ordered and referred people here but their attitude is disgusting and we'll never be coming back here again. The cake to the left is what she asked for, on the right is what was given. They should be so embarrassed."
"Sweet Occasions is my go to bakery for custom cakes. They never disappoint. We did a berry first birthday theme cake and it was beautiful and tasted delicious. I was blown away with the final result. We had more than enough cake to go around and everyone loved it."
"Really executed the picture I sent to them nicely. Decals and flowers in the picture were put in by me. Sweet occasions was responsible for just the cake. The process of ordering was also unlike any other place I’ve ordered from before. From ordering to picking up just was really pleasant. Will be ordering from Sweet Occasions again."
"This is some of the BEST Dominican desserts you'll ever have in your life! The oreo one & Tres Leches especially are absolute perfection. The prices are very fair in these inflation driven times we're all living in. Give them a shot, you won't be disappointed you did. They also will make you literally any custom cake you can imagine."
