Budget Truck Rental

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS Never rent from these guys. I picked up a van here to move across the country. I should’ve refused the vehicle because it was in terrible shape. The seat had a deep hole in the back, the tire pressure gauge was broken, the dash said the door was open even when it was closed, and the person who gave me the keys said the ignition was touchy. Well, now I’m writing this review in Nebraska stranded at a gas station because the car won’t start — likely because either the ignition switch is broken or the door being shown as open is draining the charge in the battery. These guys are the furthest from professional you can imagine. Their office is an absolute mess, and they clearly cut corners when it comes to making sure their vehicles are roadworthy. I’m paying for my gullibility and ‘go along to get along’ approach right now. Do yourself a favor and don’t even put yourself in a situation to consider renting from here."

"This business parks their trucks illegally and irresponsibly all over the neighborhood—blocking street cleaning, double-parking for days and disrupting traffic, damaging trees and public NYC property. If this is how they handle just the parking, can't even imagine how terribly everything else must be run. Would never consider doing business with them."

"All I got was screwed... I had a reservation for a specific day and time, and I arrived a couple of minutes early. The place (which is both a Budget truck rental and a car repair shop) was open, as it should be on a late Saturday morning. That's as good as it got. When I went inside to the Budget rental window, it was unoccupied. I asked a mechanic from the car repair section for the Budget rep. However, he told me that there is only one rep and that the person had left to run an errand 5 minutes earlier (even though I had a reservation!!) and wouldn't be back for at least half an hour. He also refused to call the rep on the phone because they would simply tell him that I'd have to wait. So, I called Budget's 800 number for assistance. They were useless. While they did try calling my vehicle pickup location twice (and got no one), they gave me the option of either waiting for the rep to return or waiting 15 minutes to 2 hours for a callback from an "inventory manager" who would help me obtain a vehicle from the nearest Budget location with an available vehicle. I picked the latter option because I was trying to avoid an argument with the rep at the pickup location, which likely would have become heated. The 800 number's rep told me that I was given priority in the inventory managers' callback que. I never received a callback."

"This place will rob you blind. I dropped a truck there from a one way trip. They marked it as being dropped off in c.t. And charged me extra miles for that? Than customer service gives you a alternative pay half and settle or get a email and take your chances? I should have not been charged at all ! Please get a receipt and take pics when dropping. When I dropped it agent came out and grabbed keys only question he asked me was there gas,said yes and he took key. Didn’t even look at vehicle? I will never absolutely never rent from budget ever again . Garbage in my book. Thief’s Unprofessional!!!!!! Would get zero stars if there was a option.. terrible terrible!!!!"

"DON'T DO IT. I'm telling you now, save yourself the hassle and spend more for U-Haul or someone else. Had a reservation for pick up on Sunday at 8am only to arrive and find the place closed and shuttered. No one here, call the hotline for useless customer service and meaningless gestures"
