"Despite making a reservation in advance, we were told there were no gas vehicles available. We were blamed for 'being late,' despite being well within the reservation holding period. An extra charge of $50 allowed a gas vehicle to become available. I can't help but feel these are disingenuous practices from a company in decline. Not keen on renting from Hertz again."
"Let me tell you something, after seeing the reviews I was very hesitant and went with the expectation that I probably wouldn't get a vehicle or I would show up and no one would be there... BUT BUT BUT!!!! I Had a great experience. I waited for around 15 to 20 mins max and then I got processed quickly and was on my way. DAVID & JORDAN were very pleasant and easy to deal with. I had zero issues and have zero complaints. The vehicle was clean inside and out with a full tank of gas. P.S. this is a busy location, sometimes the wait is longer but once you are there, you're definitely getting through. Give these workers some grace they do not the company and simply work with what they have. I recommend!!!"
"The employee or employees at this Hertz location stole my credit cards, gift cards, and insurance cards, but they did return my wallet to me. I went to pick up my car from Hertz/Dollar rental, where Pedro assisted me with the transaction. Upon receiving my rental, I noticed the back left tire was low on air. Although I had settled into the car, I had to quickly move to a new rental, causing me to forget my wallet in the car. It's important to note that only two people were working early that morning: Pedro, a Hispanic guy, and Lenny, a black guy. A few hours later, Pedro was kind enough to text me from his personal phone number to inform me that they have my wallet. (They can’t say another customer took it when the cleaning guy had to take the vehicle in to be serviced which you can see in the text message and bring my wallet to Pedro. Also it wouldn’t be a smart move for a criminal to personally text the victim from their personal phone letting them know they have their wallet ) I immediately informed him that I would pick it up. When I arrived at the window, he handed me my card, and I noticed it felt lighter. Upon checking, I discovered that some credit cards, insurance cards, and gift cards were missing. I requested to speak to a manager and for someone to review the security cameras. After a brief wait, the manager, Shay, came to the window and adjusted the camera so that we could both view the footage. As we watched, Shay initially exclaimed, "Oh wow," prompting Lenny to quickly ask what happened while also looking at the camera. When I inquired about what she saw, Shay said she saw nothing. This raised suspicion, especially considering Lenny's interest in the cameras, given that he was the only person cleaning the vehicles. I found it concerning that some camera angles did not provide clear views of who entered or exited the vehicle, especially since the car was directly in front of the office. Shay then informed me that she couldn't review any cameras on the next floor under where the cars are cleaned. This was perplexing, as it raised security concerns, especially in the event of a serious crime. I also contacted the police to file a report, but they left after waiting for me to come from the underground garage to the main ground floor. I asked Shay who worked there that morning, and she informed me that Pedro worked upstairs and Lenny downstairs. She stated that she couldn't search them. Additionally, she offered to let me look through the trash to see if someone had thrown my belongings away, but I found nothing. Now, I'll have to go to the police station to file a report and cancel all of my cards. I'll also be contacting corporate regarding this incident, as it's clear that their cars are not serviced adequately and they have thieves as employees. If the car had been serviced properly, the check engine light wouldn't have been on due to extremely low air in a tire, which could have prevented me from leaving my wallet in the car to be stolen by either Pedro or Lenny. I strongly advise against using their services. Update 1- As you can see hertz responded telling me to copy and paste the link in my browser but it doesn’t go anywhere. Also, the car I currently have has a front right tire issue so I will have to go to Hertz tomorrow morning. This will be the third car in less than 24 hours."
"My experiences wasn’t as bad as the peoples have been saying. Went early in the morning, the lady was on her phone chatting with her friend but still helped me. Didn’t wait too long. The car exterior wasn’t cleaned, but inside was ( it was the must important ) Still prefer the hertz at JFK despite paying the airtrain to get there"
"Even with a reservation, I had to wait in line for 2 hours to get my vehicle. When I was called to the counter, the agent welcomed me with “license and credit card.” There was no apology for the long wait. While she was checking me in I asked "Is it always like this?" referring to the long wait time and she replied "yes, on Saturdays". Once I was all checked in she returned with my vehicle 10-minutes later. She informed me that there was pet hair in the trunk and sent me images for my record. Once I drove above ground and got to a few stop lights and had the opportunity to look around the interior, I found that the car wasn’t cleaned at all and pet hair was everywhere and the car had not been vacuumed. There was also a stain on the backseat. The exterior of the car was also filthy. Once I arrived home, I took pictures and wiped down the driver and passenger seats as well as the dashboard. I tried calling the Hertz customer service number but couldn’t get anyone (unless the vehicle was broken down) so I submitted a complaint via their website. I also sent a DM to the Hertz Instagram page, which wasn’t helpful as their recommendations were to bring it to another location. The issue with this suggestion was I rented a car because I had plans AND the locations close early on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays for the most part. I returned the vehicle on Monday and spoke with the same agent who assisted me on Saturday. When I notified her that the entire car was dirty she responded “it’s not my fault that Hertz doesn’t fully staff us”. This was such a poor response. She offered me a $15-$20 credit and said that that was all that she could do and that I could contact customer service if that wasn’t sufficient. It’s not sufficient. To wait 2 hours for a reserved vehicle that had not been cleaned - no, a $20 credit for a future rental is not sufficient. I barely drove it. It sat in front of my home on Saturday as I could not use it for its intended purpose and on Sunday I ran a few errands. All of their forms of contact suck. Poor customer service all around. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Go to Enterprise."
