"Avoid this location if you can!!!! As an Avis Preferred customer who has rented cars many times, my experience here has made me decide never to choose Avis again. I ended up paying three times the estimated cost. Here’s what happened: 1. On July 23rd, the staff member secretly added the highest insurance coverage even though I explicitly told him, "No, I don’t need any insurance." Despite my clear refusal, he still added the highest insurance without my permission. He gave me a ticket showing the estimated total cost, but it did not mention insurance anywhere. I believed it was just for the car rental fee. I felt deceived by the staff, and I suspect this wasn't the first time he added insurance without customer consent. 2. When I picked up the car, the gas tank was only half full. It is usually supposed to be full. I had to return to the front desk because no one answered my phone call. When I asked about the gas, the staff told me it wasn’t supposed to be full, but he didn’t inform me of this initially. I had to go back and ask about it. 3. When I tried to exit the parking lot, the gate did not open. I tried different lanes, but it still wouldn't open. I called the front desk and parking lot assistance several time, but no one answered. In a hurry, I had to pay a $54 parking fee because I had already spent around an hour trying to pick up the car. 4. After returning the car, I filed a complaint with Avis about the unauthorized insurance charge. They refused to refund me. As a preferred customer who used to trust Avis, I feel deceived and very disappointed. I will not choose Avis in the future."

"This location is great!! I've used them numerous times since last year - including for some long distance family obligations. It's become my preferred rental location in Jersey City. The cars are always in great condition and generally newer than some other rental places I've used in JC. Also the guys at the front are always courteous and friendly. You pickup your keys from them and then grab your car in the garage and hit the road. Return is fairly simple too (the reverse of pickup). I've never had issues with returning my car within the contract window because they open pretty early and have even been open some holidays. Overall, I recommend this location and for folks to use the Avis app to book/prepay ahead of time."

"Puzzled at the bad reviews on Google. Rented a few times from this location and I’ve received nothing but excellent and efficient service from the guys working at this location. The guys at the B11 pick-up/return area can be a bit aloof but that’s mainly because they are always kept busy with return inspections and cleaning. The guys manning the front desk in the mall are all great. I rent cars quite often and given my past experience renting from this location and other companies in the vicinity, these guys won my loyalty and support!"

"When I returned the car at the end of the rental period, the center was closed, and there was no one available to assist with the next steps. Consequently, I had to take the car back with me, resulting in an unnecessary additional day's charge. There was a designated parking space, but I could not end the trip via the app. Although a 29-minute grace period is provided, there was no one to address my issue or offer assistance. Instead, I was simply charged for an extra day. I understand it was a Sunday evening, but I find this lack of support unacceptable and would not recommend Avis to others based on this experience. I hope you will address this issue to ensure better service for future customers. Sincerely,"

"Worst car hire experience ever. Rude staff, rushed information and inaccurate description that car was clean. When asked I was told vehicles aren't 100% cleaned especially not outside. This was covered in tree sap of some sort which made it sticky,windows were so dirty on sides you couldn't see properly and interior had crumbs and greasy fingerprints. Staff didn't care at all. Would recommend Avis Montgomery St which is 1/2mile further but infinitely better on all fronts."
