"Got off my flight and expected to pick up my car. I made a reservation months in advance and filled out all the necessary paperwork, paid in full for it, all online just so everything would go smoothly..But when I got to the desk it had both hertz and dollar merged together and I waited more than an hour to get the car. With only two associates behind the counter was not much help. Also came ontime for my pickup but still had to wait.Never rent from this business ,go to avis or budget when you come to syracuse n.y...BS"
"NEVER use Dollar at the Syracuse Airport. Employees were unprofessional, rude, and lacked common courtesy. It took them 30 minutes to get through the two customers in front of me. Not awesome, but that did not bother me. They tried giving me an electric car. I wouldn't be able to charge it where I was traveling to (Fort Drum). They just shrugged and said I would have to wait several hours for a different car. It was 9:30 pm and I'd already been travelling since 5:00 am. Employees were not just indifferent, they seemed irritated to have customers. I cancelled the reservation (no refund, still had to pay for a car I never got). Within ten minutes I went on Expedia, reserved a car with Enterprise, and had keys in my hand. Received exceptional service, courtesy, and professionalism from Enterprise. I've used Enterprise twice on the last 30 days at the Syracuse Airport and they were awesome both times."
"Horrible, awful policies and an overall rip off. I reserved and prepaid a rental for a trip through Expedia, which I have done several times. This time I was on a tighter budget and chose Dollar Car Rental. I figured it would be like any other time prepay, check in, and go. I was so wrong. I had to give over a credit card, which I don't have, just a debit. My choice, I don't want one. Well if I had a credit card it would have required a $200 hold on the card for the rental duration. Having a debit card only it was a $500 hold PLUS a credit check. I had plenty of money to cover the hold and a credit score in the great- almost excellent range, and I was DENIED my rental. No explanation. The counter staff that helped me just apologized and told me to contact Expedia to see if I could get a refund. Thankfully Expedia got me a refund and I was able to snag a car at Enterprise Rent-A-Car that doesn't have ANY of those policies. Skip the headache and use Enterprise, they'll even work with you on budget options. Don't even risk Dollar Rental, prepaid rentals mean nothing to them and their policies are ridiculous. Plus they don't even try to work with a customer to help them, just apologize and dismiss. No empathy or initiative."
"I reserved a rental car for my wife to go to New York. I had already set it up and paid for it,when she got there they said She couldn't rent one with the debit card She had so now she's without a vehicle in New York and we live in North Carolina. Hope dollar rental is proud of leaving a purple heart combat veteran stranded. Somebody needs to go and clean house, Unacceptable. And they make it impossible to be able to contact anyone there."
