"My father and I came for the seafood, and started with dozen oysters each accompanied with our entrees. Unfortunately, the oysters they served had to be the worst I'd ever eaten. Poorly cleaned, all we could taste was low tide marine mud in the majority of them. I figure it was the cleaning but could also just have been unlucky with bad 2 dozen batch from the catch of the day. Even had a terrible taste in mouth the following day. Father complained about the same with his. I ordered the stuffed mixed seafood entre. That was ok, but not particularly memorable (too much filler, not enough seafood and seasoning). Father ordered mixed seafood over pasta and he found it lacked any flavor. Overall, will not visit again for food. Unfortunate, because other reviews sounded promising and got rated as one of best seafood restaurants in LI, yet I don't see how from what we ate. It does seem like a nice social place for the bar, and the staff were friendly."
"I've been eating at Sea Basin for forty years now. In the last few years they have seriously upped their game and have become a goto restaurant again. If it's just the wife and I we usually sit at the bar or one of the bar high tops and order from the happy hour menu. But happy hour or regular menu nothing ever disappoints. I have become a fan of "Whisky Wednesdays" and order either a flight of bourbons or an old fashioned or a Manhattan. Definitely a worthwhile stop for either traditional Italian and sea food."
"We were welcome with Smiles & laughter.. Even the server pouring water seemed happy & attentive.. Alicia was our server, she shared the history behind Sea Basin plus explained the pictures on the wall.. The food was spaced out well, they didn't rush us.. I am considering making this our local watering hole.. The high-tops & bar menu looks exciting.. 5 stars may not be enough, time will tell.."
"As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a friendly host, Lysa. She sat us promptly. We sat at a high top and Kyle the bartender was our server. He greeted us, and was so polite and calm. His demeanor was very comforting. We did the lunch price fixe. The lobster bisque soup was so delicious! It was not too thin, and not too thick. the warm garlic bread complimented it perfectly. The soup of the day chicken barley was also delicious and light, a perfect light appetizer. For my meal I got the filet of bass with artichoke hearts and capers, I substituted angel hair pasta for rice without a problem. The bass is so delicious and perfect, I just can’t get over how satisfying it was. I can never find bass prepared and served this way that hits the spot the way Sea Basin does it. My partner got the panko crusted salmon, which he really enjoyed. Overall it was a great experience. Kyle was wonderful and the food was great. The place was recently remodeled so it is really nice inside with many tvs."
