"I met the Owner & Chef today. She has such a beautiful personality & I absolutely love her passion for cooking & cleanliness of her restaurant. Must try! The food is amazing!!"
"Wow. I don't usually do African cuisine but it was requested. We were supposed to go somewhere else and I thank God he changed our trajectory. From the friendliness, the freshness of the food, the taste and down to the coziness of the dining space ensured I will be back. We order a pan of Jollof rice, 2 orders of puffpuff, fried Tilapia, baked chicken, Egusi soup and fufu(1 chicken and 1 goat) and sauce(sautéed onions and peppers in a sauce). Everything was made fresh. The rice had a smokey taste and I loved it. My entire family loved it."
"I had the most phenomenal dining experience at Kings Pride, a Nigerian restaurant in Jersey City. The exceptional customer service by the owner, Veronica, truly made it stand out. Veronica went above and beyond to bring the essence of Nigerian cuisine to our table, even taking us behind the scenes to demonstrate the traditional preparation of the dishes. Her passion for sharing the culture and flavors of Nigeria was truly inspiring. The Jollof rice with stewed goat was an absolute standout, bursting with rich, aromatic flavors that left a lasting impression. The Ogbono soup was a true staple of Nigerian cuisine and paired perfectly with a side of fufu. The classic homemade Zobo drink was a refreshing and delightful complement to the meal. Veronica's warm hospitality and her dedication to showcasing the authenticity and rich cultural heritage of Nigerian cuisine made our experience truly memorable. Kings Pride is more than just a restaurant; it's a place that brings people together through the love for great food and the celebration of Nigerian traditions. I highly recommend Kings Pride as a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and enriching culinary experience. Veronica's commitment to preserving and sharing the intricacies of Nigerian cuisine deserves the utmost support to keep this remarkable restaurant thriving."
"The last time I tasted Jollof rice of the caliber made here was in a local spot in Lagos, Nigeria where it is made in iron pots and cooked with firewood. I don't know how they did it, but it beats every jollof rice I have had in the US so far. I ordered it with chicken for my birthday party and it was a hit. Everyone wanted to take some rice to go after the party. The chef is also the kindest and most personable individual you would ever meet. She added extra portions and a little something on the side to commemorate my birthday and helped me drop off the food too. She has a customer for life. Thank you for the top notch food and over-the-top service experience."
"Good service, large portions, good food presentation, good location. My friend & I aren’t frequent African food eaters but as our first egusi (too salty & bones are hard to get around in fish) & pad yam fufu (I think I’m saying that right…it’s bland & unfamiliar texture) experience we’d prefer something else. We arrived apparently right after the owner left at end of the night and her children didn’t know how to explain the menu in English…we chose the exotic/recommended items! All that said, the snacks (chin chin) they sell were delicious and I’ll honestly stop by for those very nice to discover this. Yum. It’s very much a hole in the wall (quite pricey for such) but it’s spacious enough for multiple groups to dine in. I would try another meal there…it was all well prepared and presented so gotta just find what works for my palate."
