Not only do they drive the kids to learn how to think, instead of what to think, they focus on core skills that in my life experience would have been very valuable to have learned. Beyond that, I believe that simply challenging the status quo is a skill and beneficial thing to learn at a young age, not to mention the community of like-minded parents that we now get to be a part of. "Our kids love this school so much that they're actually sad when they miss days for vacation, and they spend the summer counting down the days until school starts back up. Children's bodies weren't designed to sit still at a desk all day, and their brains weren't designed to be lectured to, then come home to hours of homework. Kids at Acton learn how to run a business, and they get to start their own as young as 5 years old for the annual business fair. They're learning real world skills to be independent thinkers with leadership skills. They all lift each other up emotionally and academically. They're given the same respect as an adult would expect to receive, and because of this, they're extremely mature and respectful themselves. We are very thankful for this school."
