"Church like in the book of Acts-not a business."
"Just here as an NA meeting place"
"This is where my real family is!"
"11 years ago, a new Christian and new to Brighton heights, I was looking for a church. I was going to go all over the area looking for the best church. I went to Emmanuel first and never went to any other. The music was what caught my attention! I was baptized there 2 months later. When my father came with me, and he was Catholic, he loved the pastor and the music. At their memorial day picnic they all stood and saluted my dad, a WWII vet, he was so moved. the picnic was the last social event of his life, he died shortly after but I will never forget how special everyone made my dad feel. My 11 year old niece goes to public school, the only formal teaching she has ever had on Jesus, is from this church. She know Jesus so much when she was 5 she wrote and illustrated the 'Gesis' Book as she called it. A pretty accurate chronicle of His life! :) About excepting people's ethnic cultures. Even though there are only 3 families in the whole church who are of Italian ancestry, a few year's ago I introduced the old Italian tradition of "The Feast of the 7 fishes" as a fundraiser for my mission trip and the congregation was very accepting and open to trying the diverse foods we made. They may have not liked all the variety of sea food, but they made me feel very welcome."
"Very sorry to read the first review. Not sure who that speaker was - but since my daughter-in-law is Filipino I can assure you that won't happen nowadays! Our goal is to make everyone welcome at Emmanuel. Hope you'll visit us again!"
