"We were referred to John Hancock via the HUD 203k loan program as John Hancock Contracting is experienced in these types of housing rehabilitation projects. This made the process, which is normally longer and slightly more complicated due to the 203k requirements, much easier than expected. John Hancock worked to meet our deadlines and always had a representative available for walk throughs and inspections. We were able to communicate frequently about changes in the work order and come to quick resolutions which is an important part of their customer service provided by Josh. Their foreman on the job, Mike, was one of the most helpful and honest people we have dealt with. He told us that home ownership is hard when dealing with a fixer upper and that he wants us to succeed. We saw that he meant it through his work and the advice he would give us on the work we would be doing personally. Mike was accommodating to our schedules and his crew (Joe and Bill) was quick to clean up their gear and mess when asked. These guys even showed up in the snow to do some exterior work! These were professionals and they worked and acted like it. In the end, we have a beautiful mid century cape cod house on a quiet street in Blackridge with wooded property. Our dream house has a new roof, new windows, updated electric and plumbing, and several other updates which give the house character and charm. John Hancock was a big part of this and we will continue to work with them on future updates. I would definitely suggest having a conversation with them about your remodeling and repair needs. You'll appreciate their honesty and integrity as much as you will their workmanship."

"I don't recommend this company. Poor quality work. They put in my new floors prior to painting, then splattered paint all over them, installed the new pipes for my clawfoot tub so close to the wall that I couldn't fit a baseboard behind it, workers smoked inside while doing the work, and never cleaned up after themselves. I walked in once while my bedroom was being painted and they had not washed the walls and were just rolling the paint over dirt and cobwebs. These are just a handful of examples of the issues I have had. At the time of this posting we have now gone almost a month past the contract end date, and it's dragging on. Talk to other contractors in the area and they will let you know this company's reputation. I wish I had. One positive: they stayed within my budget, but at what cost to my sanity and quality of work? I would never use them again. - Originally posted this review in September 2015. Update (June 2016) They still have not installed the final window they were supposed to. It's a custom window they had to order and according to the window company is still sitting at their warehouse. Every few weeks I try to call or text John to ask when they'll be putting it in, but never hear back."
