The Space Sciences Laboratory (SSL) at the University of California, Berkeley, stands as the UC system’s premier space sciences research facility and is recognized as one of the top university laboratories in the nation dedicated to space research. Situated in the picturesque hills of Berkeley, the SSL boasts a rich history of groundbreaking discoveries and innovative space missions.

Research and Achievements:

SSL is renowned for its cutting-edge contributions to space exploration and scientific research. Instruments fabricated at the laboratory have been pivotal in detecting structures through the Global-scale Observations of the Limb and Disk (GOLD) mission, advancing our understanding of the Earth's upper atmosphere.

One of the hallmark projects led by SSL is the Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers (ESCAPADE) mission to Mars.
