"Nice little ranger station"
"This is such a wonderful thing! Nancy, the ranger at the visitors center, is so welcoming and showed our kids some wonderful findings from the park- animal bones, native plants, and historical finds. There's books to read and lend and toys for kids to borrow. Also coloring and other activities. I'm so glad it's open again. They often host events and local plant walks, so any time you're at Riverview Park, go by and see if the center is open, there's definitely something to do."
"Nice older and cabin like visitors center. Surrounding park itself and observatory at top of hill are historic Pittsburgh hidden gems. They usually have park events posted on a sandwich board outside. In addition they have regular size paper copies inside. They also have other park info on a table right inside the front door. Center is not always open but I would say around 50% of the time. Park ranger is often there and she is easy to talk with and super knowledgeable, especially about horticulture in the park. Just a note, there is a blue information sign across the street from the visitor center that has some observatory and park information on it. To summarize, if they are open and especially if the ranger is there you will find very helpful."
"Great place for a walk, walk the dog or just sit on a bench and relax. This park has. Something for everyone."
"Ranger was great , funny and welcoming! My 1 and 3 year old enjoyed the pine cones and big stuffed bear... Great trails and park too!"
