"My experience was not nearly as bad as most of these reviews. Most of the staff was caring and considerate when I had my baby here 3 years ago. There were some factors beyond the hospitals control which made it less of a nice experience such as COVID and only allowing one visitor to come the entire time i was there. While I was there the power went out from an intense storm so the generators kicked in but the generators don't run the AC so literally every room in the entire hospital was in the 80s, again not the hospital staffs fault. Ordering food was weird, they wouldn't let me order enough to share with my spouse, but he also wasn't allowed to leave to get food because of Covid so like where was he supposed to get food from? That was a shame on the hospitals part. However, my OB DR William Jordan is one of the absolute best. He listened to me, was knowledgeable and took the best care of me and my baby. Every time I had to go to the ER for spotting or have a NST done, the staff was incredible. There was never any wait to be seen. I would most likely deliver another baby here if I ever get pregnant again."
"My wife was scheduled for a c section we was supposed to have it on the 18 we ddnt have the baby till the 19 they told us we will be staying for 2 extra days & it turned to 4 days we have 4 other kids so I had to take care of them after the 2 day & I decided to take my kids to see there mother & they told me I couldn't go up with my kids so I sat down in the lobby because she was being discharged mind you nobody was around only a lady security that looks lazy & wants to be on her fone all day & the lobby clerk apparently because my kids were playing she got irritated because she can't hear her fone so she came to tell me to settle them down & I told her so they can't be kids & she proceeds to tell me I have 2 kids & there disciplined I don't care if there disciplined there kids & my kids are perfectly fine not making messes or nothing point blank this is a horrible hospital & I'm telling my family members to stay away they don't have enough workers that actually have to do there job or know there job because apparently there teaching everyone here how to do there job. If you don't like kids or have patience for kids they shouldn't work around a children's hospital"
"It's 24 and 22 years later and the prenatal experience at Hutzel is on my mind. My midwife ( I think her name was Ann) was phenomenal. She wore glasses and had short reddish hair. She provided prenatal care for both of my children. Thinking back, I am so grateful. Just this morning I thanked God for that experience because she and the other staff in that clinic were always so kind. She never made me, a young, Black, poor, single Mom) feel like crap. She was never condescending or judgemental or impatient. She had such a gentle spirit. I don't know if she is still alive or where she is, but I do hope that she is well, and that her last days are reflective of the compassionate care that she provided for myself and for so many other young Moms. Also, the nurses after I gave birth I remember the nurses being very kind as well. Both times, they saw to it that both me and my child were cared for. I always felt like I was in the most capable hands. Thank you, Hutzel Hospital."
"I went in to get induced on 4/30/2024 eighteen days before my due date. Upon arrival I was registered into their system and once I got my room the doctors immediately started talking about having a c-section that I was totally against. I declined a total of five requests by doctors to have the surgical procedure before they even attempted to induce me. It’s like they making up stories about my unborn being distressed to convince me to get it. They finally induced me at 7:50pm 5/1/2024 where then every hour on the hour a different doctor came in with the c-section paperwork harassing me another four times and each time I declined. It got so bad that the doctors caught attitudes because I wouldn’t agree to have one. Mind you they told me it’ll take my body up to two days to fully go into labor, yet they were rushing me into labor to where they broke my water at 11:15pm. By 2am they were saying my body isn’t going into labor but I dilated to 5.60 -3cm. I kept telling them give my body time to fully go into labor but they sent a crew of new doctors and students in to put more fear in me about my baby’s heart rate dropping which it only did when I had a contraction and returned to normal. They literally waited 30 more minutes before rushing back into my room in a panic with a horrific story saying a emergency c-section was needed now to the point that I agreed because I didn’t want my daughter to suffer (according to them). Come to find out it was all a lie just to get the students in training the training they needed. I wished I would’ve just got up and left because they were trying to discharge us 30hrs after my surgery, kept me extremely doped up on pain medication to the point that I refused a few times, treated us like we were homeless because I refuse to leave a day after surgery. To top everything off one of the women pediatrician was sick sweating profusely over my baby and when confronted about it she said she wasn’t and rushed out the room. Had I went with my first mind I believe wholeheartedly that my daughter would still be alive today and I wouldn’t be saying my final goodbye tomorrow. We lost her 8hrs after returning home from being kicked out by hutzel staff……….DO NOT HAVE YOUR BABIES DELIVERED HERE EVER. PLEASE go to a different hospital!!!! 80% of the rooms were empty during my stay there and I found that weird"
"Edited review:- I was giving this place a 5 star review last year (2022) but today I am so disappointed ! There are a lot of things have been changed since then. On the second of May 2023 my second child is born and after the C section and all of that, and we’re in our room now we needed help with the baby and the Mom like they used to do in 2022, but no body was showing up, I asked for a documents so I can give it to my employer but they keep ignoring me for the whole day, plus. I know the hospital is paying these nurses but still the worst service ever. When it comes to leave the hospital and discharge they continued ignoring us, We feel like we’re prisoners until this moment . 0 out 5."
