"Emergency care here was excellent! Doctor and nurses here were top notch! They were efficient, thorough, responsive and kind. Glad I went in, it was the right thing to do. UPDATE: I was back in for a kidney stone yesterday. Dr. Hart, nurse Kara and the whole team were excellent! They helped me as soon as they could and managed my pain. No blown veins! They are amazing from the intake and triage to the labs, imaging, helpers, even the registration person. I feel very fortunate to have such great care close by. Everyone, 5 stars and thank you!!!"
"My mom was brought in on the 10th by ambulance. The ER staff immediately started different tests, fast, efficient and kept us informed. We had some fast decisions to make. She was put on comfort care and moved to 4100. She passed away on the 15th. Every single person we came in contact from ER to 4100 had her best interests at heart. They were constantly checking to make sure we were ok as well. Special shout out to Rhonda(hospice), and Tiffany, thank you both for your caring and compassionate ways."
"My elderly Mother had an incident and needed to go to DMH ER on a Saturday evening. Everyone was quick, friendly, super helpful and listened to our concerns. Brian was our nurse and was very sweet and distracted my mom from being in the hospital. Jason our nurse practitioner was excellent in treatment and getting us out as soon as he could. I highly recommend DMH ER. Our experience was pleasant!!"

"The intake staff and nurses are usually friendly. Never had any staff related issues ever. However, this hospital in general has consistently been negligent in providing appropriate medical care for my family over the years. 3/7/2024 at 8pm my husband was brought in from an emergency work related explosion with burns on his face, arm and hand. We stood around for an hour waiting to be taken back. He was in severe pain and they were in no hurry to treat him. Finally a EMS on sight helped to hurry the process along. When we were taken back they did seem to take it serious at that point. In 2015 they almost killed me by not listening when I told them I believed I had an obstruction..which I did and needed emergency surgery. I went back 3 times over 2 weeks before they finally admitted me and took me into surgery immediately for an obstruction...like I said smh. In 2018 they withheld medical information after removing my daughters appendix unnecessarily. She actually ended up having Crohn's which they documented in her records but never told us. For months after her appendix surgery she continually lost weight, missed a month of school, ended up being hospitalized twice and later officially diagnosed with Crohn's. In 2005, while giving birth to my daughter, this hospital had to call in a doctor from another hospital because they simply weren't able to deliver my baby. They literally told me they weren’t sure what to do. I was shocked. They had me pushing before I was dilated which caused unnecessary pain because they refused me medication. After my daughter was finally born this hospital misdiagnosed her with having sleep apnea and overdosed her on strong medications that caused her to have seizures. I caught them shredding her records as the helicopter arrived to fly her to STL Children’s Hospital. They almost killed her and covered it up afterwards. On 10/5/2022 my grandbaby was admitted for RSV. The baby unit left a lot to be desired. They didn't have any of the little things that every other baby/children's units have. They didn't even have any toys to keep him occupied. He was given some kind of deformed looking stuffed animal and that was it. I sat with him for approx 4 hours and never seen one nurse or staff even walk past our room. They worked double time coming in at night keeping him awake and grouchy though. A female nurse in the ER almost dropped him off the bed while transporting him to imaging. Unreal. They really need to do better with this unit. That's just to name a few examples. Decatur Memorial Hospital is horrible!"
