"Todd and the local SAM The Concrete Man Pittsburgh team did a great job on our project. He brought us peace of mind during steps that we were unfamililar with, communicated well throughout every step and hired a great contractor that delivered a beautiful product for us. Would work with him again."
"We hired Scott and the Sam the Concrete Man crew in March of 2021 to replace the driveway of a newly purchased home. The owner Scott was fair and timely with his estimate and the crew showed-up on time. They were respectful and professional with the demolition, instillation and agreed upon timeline. However, since instillation there have been numerous issues - including cracks and chipping. My wife and I reached out several times about a chip in the driveway apron and after six months (!) there was a hasty “repair” made which fell apart days later. The driveway is just over a year old and has already developed multiple cracks. We thought we were paying for the best, high-end driveway and unfortunately that just wasn’t the case."
"Crack in driveway pad installed on 6/15/21. Cracked the complete width of pad. Sam the Concrete Man aka Scott will not come out to repair because his subcontractor had verbally confrontation with spouse. Cement spillage left on driveway cracks on edges of pads, water marks I could go on. Instead of correcting my concerns about the quality of work completed he sued me over a 1000.00 balance owed him. He sued me for twice the amount owed. Almost 9000.00 later I have incomplete poor quality work and damage to my property. If this is how Scott conducts his business he won’t be around long because consumers will not tolerate. Find another contractor that keeps his word. His business tactics include intimidation, harassment and pure arrogance. Full of excuses and ignoring the facts of a poor job with refusal to correct yet he wants paid in full. Uses his previous work in law enforcement as leverage. Hope you feel good about taking my hard earned money."
"We used Sam the Concrete man last summer for a stamped patio. The previous owner and subcontractor did a terrible job. We ended up working with the new owner of this franchise to get the patio done correctly. Todd, the new owner came to inspect the previous work and agreed that the patio needed completely torn out and redone. He was communicative and got the new patio done in time for this summer. Under new ownership, Sam the Concrete man is worth considering for your projects."
"Terrible Experience and Terrible Outcome! We contracted with Mr. Scott Leonard, the owner of the franchise, to install a 500 square foot exposed aggregate patio. Please see all of the attached pictures and captions, but not only did they not run string and level the patio, they did not order enough concrete and required two pours, they only poured a 2.5 inch patio despite 4" being in the contract. They never compacted and leveled the sub-base which has resulted in a Low areas, horrible puddling, and no drainage, which will be a major hazard come winter and lead to additional cracking. Large divots were left in the patio and they tried to "patch" with concrete that does not match the patio and has since broke off . They did not install rebar despite it being in the contract (See contract language in photos). They did not clean up and left our siding and windows covered in dried concrete. They damaged the electrical conduit to our garage (see before and after pictures). They did not follow the agreed upon plan with the steps and now we have exposed foundation and wood under our back door. The final patio was completely discolored and hazy and they spent a week trying to fix it, but it remains hazy and uneven. To Mr Leonards credit, he agreed via text message to "make it right" and that they would replace the patio in late august or early September. However, I have now followed up several times and have not received a response. The last communication I received is that they would do it by end of September. It is now October 10, and we have heard nothing. In our opinion, they purposely cut corners in order to reduce cost and delivered an extremely disappointing result. Please see attached pictures of the puddling, damages, discolored patio, divots, low areas, and the mess left in our yard. This has been absolutely awful experience and has caused a great deal of stress all summer. We are now considering legal action given the breach of contract, damage to our newly built home, and the complete lack of follow up from Mr. Leonard. We would strongly recommend against ever hiring the Pittsburgh area Sam The Concrete Man for anything. If Mr Leonard does follow through with the promises he has put in writing to "make it right" and fix the patio and deliver what was promise, I will gladly add an update to this review. Until then however, I would advise everyone to learn from our mistake of hiring this company."
